  The Mariners optioned Canzone to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Canzone had started just seven of 18 games since coming off the injured list earlier this month and went just 3-for-26 at the plate over that stretch. With Julio Rodriguez able to play center field again and Victor Robles sliding over to right field, Canzone's playing time was likely only going to dwindle further had he stuck around with Seattle.

  Canzone isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants. The lefty-hitting Canzone will take a seat Saturday with the lefty-throwing Blake Snell set to toe the slab for San Francisco. Randy Arozarena, Victor Robles and Julio Rodriguez will start across the outfield while Mitch Haniger serves as Seattle's designated hitter.

  Canzone is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Since being activated from the 10-day injured list, the lefty-hitting Canzone has started in just one of the Mariners' ensuing six games. He hasn't been helped by the fact that the Mariners have faced five left-handed starters or primary pitchers during that stretch, but Canzone's opportunities against right-handed pitching could be somewhat limited moving forward with Julio Rodriguez having recently returned from the injured list and fellow outfielder Victor Rojas having solidified himself as an everyday player.

  Canzone went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run in a win over the Mets on Sunday. Canzone started in right field, his first time back in the opening lineup since being activated from the injured list Friday. The outfielder commemorated the occasion by swatting his first extra-base hits since July 9, but with Randy Arozarena arriving at the deadline and Victor Robles working himself into a regular outfield role while Canzone was on the shelf, the latter's prospects for regular playing time are murky at the moment.
