• Rays' Junior Caminero: Good to go Sunday

  Caminero (back) is starting at third base and batting third in Sunday's spring game against the Blue Jays, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. The 21-year-old exited Thursday's game due to back tightness but will return to the field after taking a couple days off. Caminero is expected be a key lineup piece for the Rays in 2025 after he posted a .723 OPS in 43 games as a rookie last year.

  Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Caminero (back) is "probably very day-to-day," Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Caminero felt his back tighten up on a swing during Thursday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Phillies. While he could be held out of action for a few days to be safe, Cash said of Caminero that they "don't expect him to miss too much time."

  Caminero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Tigers. Caminero took Keider Montero deep in the third inning for his fifth home run of the season. The 21-year-old Caminero has been a full-time starter at the hot corner since being called up Aug. 13, slashing .250/.306/.426 with five home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored and two stolen bases in 39 games.

  Caminero is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox. It will be just his second day off since being promoted in mid-August and his first time out of the lineup in four weeks. Jose Caballero will cover third base for the Rays on Thursday while Taylor Walls holds down shortstop.

  Caminero went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Saturday's 11-4 win over the Padres. Caminero walked and scored in the first inning and then gave the Rays a 5-2 lead on a 429-foot home run in the second. In his last 10 games, the 21-year-old has gone deep three times with six RBI and is slashing a solid .254/.319/.460 across 69 major-league plate appearances this season.
