In that span, he's batting just .167 (8-for-48) with 17 strikeouts, but he's still seeing the bulk of the playing time at second base due to a plethora of injuries in the Baltimore infield. The 20-year-old is at a .173/.227/.304 slash line with five home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs scored, three doubles and two triples through 49 contests.

After getting off to a fast start initially upon his promotion from Triple-A Norfolk on July 31, Holliday has stumbled to a .139/.208/.200 batting line with a 34.7 percent strikeout rate over his last 20 games. Livan Soto will start at second base and bat ninth for the Orioles on Monday.

Holliday went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Rockies. Holliday has three steals this season, all of which have come over the last five games. The 20-year-old hadn't used his speed much earlier in the campaign, though that was partly due to rarely getting on base in his first stint in the majors. Holliday now has a .180/.235/.331 slash line with five home runs, 20 RBI, 24 runs scored, two doubles and two triples over his first 40 big-league games. The Orioles' laundry list of injuries will help Holliday stay in the lineup, but he'll likely remain at the bottom of the order unless his bat gets hot.
