Yoshida will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth against the Yankees on Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. Although the Yankees are sending southpaw Carlos Rodon to the mound Sunday, the lefty-hitting Yoshida will be in the lineup while Rob Refsnyder (wrist) remains sidelined. Yoshida is slashing .198/.283/.302 with two home runs and 13 RBI across 99 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers this season.

Yoshida went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Yankees. Yoshida's fourth-inning double plated Boston's first run, then he singled home the last two runs an inning later. It was the second consecutive multi-RBI game for Yoshida, who homered in Friday's game. He's hit safely in five consecutive starts, going 8-for-20 with five extra-base hits and six RBI.

Yoshida went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in a loss to Houston on Monday. Yoshida began the game on the bench but pinch hit for Connor Wong in the sixth inning. The 31-year-old came through with a big knock, swatting a two-run homer to left field to give Boston a two-run lead. The long ball also extended Yoshida's hitting streak to seven games, during which he's batting an absurd .632 (12-for-19) with two homers, six RBI, six runs and four walks.
