  • Padres' Will Wagner: Rejoins Padres
    By RotoWire

The Padres recalled Wagner from the Arizona Complex League on Saturday. Wagner was sent to the Padres' facility in Arizona following Xander Bogaerts' return from the injured list Tuesday, but the former will now be brought back onto the big-league roster to replace Ramon Laureano (finger). Wagner has slashed .222/.319/.278 across 145 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and Padres this season and will likely come off the bench most days while in San Diego.

    By RotoWire

The Padres optioned Wagner to the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday. Wagner was optioned to create space on the active roster for Xander Bogaerts's (foot) reinstation from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Wagner was recalled Aug. 24 to fill in for Jackson Merrill, who had an ankle injury at the time. Since then, Wagner got just 13 plate appearances in the 13 games he played in and reached base twice.

  • The Padres recalled Wagner from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday. Acquired from the Blue Jays on July 31, Wagner was subsequently optioned to El Paso, where he slashed .270/.333/.405 with two home runs and one stolen base in 17 games. He's been recalled from Triple-A to replace Jackson Merrill (ankle) on the active roster, though Gavin Sheets is the likelier candidate to benefit from regular playing time while Merrill is on the shelf. Wagner, meanwhile, will bolster the Padres' infield depth but likely won't be in store for steady starts.

Wagner was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday. Wagner was dealt from the Blue Jays to the Padres on Thursday but is currently blocked by both Ryan O'Hearn and Gavin Sheets. That leaves him without a spot in the big leagues, though that could change prior to the close of the regular season. Across 132 plate appearances with Toronto, Wagner hit .237/.336/.298 with a 15:26 BB:K.

  • Giants' Will Wagner: Heading to San Diego
    By RotoWire

Wagner was traded from the Blue Jays to the Padres on Thursday in exchange for Brandon Valenzuela. Wagner's role in San Diego is to be determined, as the Padres also acquired Ryan O'Hearn and already have Gavin Sheets in terms of lefty-hitting corner bats. Wagner slashed .237/.336/.298 with zero home runs and one steal in 132 plate appearances in the majors this season.
