  The Rangers optioned Teodo to minor-league camp Wednesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. Teodo was impressive this spring, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings with a 6:1 K:BB. For now, the Rangers appear set on continuing to develop the hard-throwing right-hander as a starting pitcher. However, a move to the bullpen could come at some point, and if it does, Teodo has the potential to eventually be a closer option.

  Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that Teodo is a long shot to make the team's Opening Day roster, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Teodo has turned heads this spring with his big stuff and his results, as he's fanned five batters over 3.1 scoreless frames. However, Bochy noted that the Rangers want Teodo to continue to develop as a starting pitcher, and there's currently not room for him in the big-league rotation. Teodo is already on the 40-man roster and could make his major-league debut at some point in 2025 if he pitches well at Triple-A Round Rock.

The right-hander was pulled from his bullpen session Saturday due to thumb soreness, but the fact he returned to throwing a day later indicates it wasn't a serious concern. Teodo is one of the organization's top prospects and posted a 1.98 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 110:50 K:BB across 86.1 innings at the Double-A level last year.

Teodo, 23, collected a 1.98 ERA and 110:50 K:BB over 86.1 innings this season with Frisco. The right-hander has a career 13.1 percent walk rate in the minors, but he also boasts a 32.2 percent strikeout rate and has electric stuff. Teodo needs more seasoning but has the upside of a front-line starter if he can throw enough strikes.
