The Phillies outrighted Hall to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday after he cleared waivers. Hall logged 198 plate appearances at the big-league level between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but he's played exclusively for Lehigh Valley in 2024, slashing .250/.326/.407 with 12 home runs and one stolen base in 350 plate appearances before the Phillies booted him off the 40-man roster Friday. Given that Hall is already 29 years old, is limited to first base defensively and has posted underwhelming numbers at Triple-A this season, it's not particularly surprising that he didn't draw any interest on waivers.

The Phillies designated Hall for assignment Friday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. It's been clear for a while the Hall didn't have much of a future in Philadelphia, and he's now off the 40-man roster with the Phillies needing the spot for someone else. The 29-year-old has just a .726 OPS this season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but he's put up some big numbers in the minors in the past, so there could be interest from a team with more of a need at first base or designated hitter.

Hall was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. With Bryce Harper making his first start at first base Friday and Kyle Schwarber being used at designated hitter, Hall is headed back to the minors. He has just a .437 OPS at the big-league level this season.

Hall is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. The lefty-hitting Hall sat out both ends of a doubleheader last weekend when the Padres brought a pair of lefty starters to the hill, but he had manned first base in both of the Phillies' last two games against right-handed pitchers. However, Hall will find himself on the bench Wednesday versus righty Colin Rea, allowing Edmundo Sosa to crack the lineup at third base while Alec Bohm shifts over to first.

Hall isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against San Diego, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Left-hander Ryan Weathers will start Game 2 on the mound for San Diego, so the left-handed bat of Hall will stay put in Philly's dugout. Alec Bohm will take over at first base, allowing Edmundo Sosa to start at third and bat seventh.
