Wilson went 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk and a run in a loss to the Cubs on Monday. Wilson worked out of the leadoff spot for only the second time in his nascent MLB career and made good use of the opportunity. He led the game off with his second career triple, but it was his third-inning walk that led to his run, as Brent Rooker drove the rookie home with his two-run blast. Wilson now has a trio of two-hit efforts in the last nine games, and it remains to be seen if his move up in the order was just an outlier or indicative of where he'll primarily slot in for what remains of the regular season.

Wilson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox. Wilson will get a breather for the series finale after he went 5-for-24 with a double, three runs and no RBI while starting in each of the past six games. Nick Allen will replace Wilson as the Athletics' starting shortstop.

The rookie contributed only his second multi-hit effort since returning from the injured list Aug. 27, extending his hitting streak to six games in the process. Wilson has been making constant contact during that stretch, mustering a .333 batting average with a tiny 7.7 percent strikeout rate across 26 plate appearances.

Wilson isn't in the Athletics' lineup Saturday against the Tigers. Wilson went 2-for-4 with an RBI during Friday's series opener, and he'll now grab a seat on the bench while Nick Allen starts at shortstop, batting eighth.

Wilson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run in a loss to the Mariners on Thursday. The rookie is maintaining an everyday role now that he's healthy, but Wilson has gone just 4-for-25 since returning from the IL on Aug. 27. However, given his elite body of work in the minors -- Wilson hit .433 (90-for-208) this year over three minor-league levels -- it figures to be just a matter of time before he figures out big-league arms.
