  • Mariners' Luke Raley: Back in action Friday
    By RotoWire

Raley (side) will start at first base and bat ninth in Friday's game versus Atlanta. Raley departed Wednesday's game against the Rays with tightness in his side, but he's feeling well enough to play Friday following the Mariners' off day Thursday. Josh Naylor will begin Friday's festivities on the bench.

  • Raley was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rays due to tightness in his side, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. The 30-year-old entered Wednesday's game in the fourth inning for Josh Naylor, but Raley was later taken out of the game himself in the seventh after going 0-for-2 with a strikeout. The Mariners are calling his removal precautionary, however, and he'll receive an additional day to recover before Seattle begins its next series in Atlanta on Friday thanks to Thursday's team day off.

  • Mariners' Luke Raley: Comes off IL
    By RotoWire

The Mariners reinstated Raley (back) from the 10-day injured list Friday. After going 4-for-16 with two homers in four minor-league rehab games, Raley has been given the green light to join the active roster Friday. The 30-year-old has been on the shelf since July 25 due to back spasms. Miles Mastrobuoni was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Raley had been seeing regular playing time at first base before sustaining the injury, but the arrival of Josh Naylor likely means Raley will be relegated to a reserve role.

  • Raley (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports. Raley landed on the 10-day injured list in late July due to back spasms. He started his hitting progression Tuesday, and he's progressed enough in his recovery to embark on a rehab assignment. Raley may need only a weekend stint with Tacoma before being cleared to return to the majors.

  • Mariners' Luke Raley: Back to hitting
    By RotoWire

Raley (back) will begin a hitting progression Tuesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Back spasms have kept Raley out of action since July 25, though he wasn't officially placed on the IL until July 30. Assuming his return to hitting goes smoothly, the plan is for him to begin a rehab assignment in the minors over the weekend before returning sometime next week.
