  • Atlanta acquired Daniel from the Angels on Friday in exchange for Mitch Farris. Daniel had been designated for assignment by the Angels but will now join Atlanta's 40-man roster. The 27-year-old posted a 6.23 ERA and 28:6 K:BB over 30.1 innings in 2024 and will likely begin 2025 in the Triple-A Gwinnett rotation.

  • The Angels designated Daniel for assignment Wednesday. The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Chuckie Robinson, who was acquired from the White Sox. Daniel, 27, made six starts for the Angels in 2024, posting a 6.23 ERA and 28:6 K:BB over 30.1 innings. He has a solid 25.8 percent strikeout rate in the minors, so it's possible Daniel will draw interest via trade or waivers.

  • Angels' Davis Daniel: Sent back to Triple-A
    By RotoWire

The Angels optioned Daniel to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday. Daniel will head back to the minors just a day after he surrendered four earned runs over five innings during his start Monday against the Blue Jays. Kenny Rosenberg will come up from Salt Lake to fill the open roster spot, though Jack Kochanowicz is the most likely option to fill the fifth spot in the Halos' rotation.

  • Daniel (1-4) took the loss Monday against Toronto, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out two. All four runs attributed to Daniel came in the third inning, when he surrendered back-to-back doubles, an RBI single and a two-run home run, with the long ball coming off Leo Jimenez's bat. Daniel has surrendered at least four runs in back-to-back starts and has done so in four of six starts this season. Though Daniel is expected to remain in the rotation, the Angels could replace him with Jack Kochanowicz, who allowed two runs across 7.2 innings Sunday after being recalled from Double-A.

  • Daniel (1-3) took the loss against the Yankees on Wednesday in Game 1 of a doubleheader, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 3.1 innings. Daniel fell behind 2-0 after one inning and 3-0 after two before pitching his first scoreless frame in the third. However, he couldn't maintain any momentum in the fourth, as he allowed two of the three hitters he faced to reach base before getting the hook. Altogether, the rookie ended up allowing five runs, the third time in five starts he's given up that amount (though in one of those starts, only four of the runs were earned). Daniel has shown some promise too with a pair of strong starts during which he's given up just one earned run across a combined 13 frames, but his overall 6.04 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 25.1 innings make him a volatile fantasy starter.
