Montgomery is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox. Montgomery had made 15 consecutive starts, so he will be given a routine day of rest in Tuesday's series opener. Junior Perez will grab a start in right field in Montgomery's stead.

Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a walk Saturday against the Tigers. Montgomery collected four hits across his first two games in the majors, but he entered Saturday's game having collected only two hits in his last 23 at-bats while striking out at a 33.3 percent clip. However, he showed some signs of life at the plate Saturday, collecting a walk in his first plate appearance before following that up with a double in the seventh frame. Montgomery is likely to remain inconsistent, but he has started nine of 10 games since having his contract selected.

Montgomery is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Detroit. After starting eight straight games after his promotion, Montgomery is seeing his first day off. He went 4-for-9 with a home run and two doubles in his first two games, but Montgomery is just 2-for-22 with a 1:8 BB:K across his past six contests. He'll get a breather as the Tigers send ace Tarik Skubal to the mound. Junior Perez will play right field in Montgomery's stead.

Montgomery went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Atlanta. After Montgomery delivered a walk-off homer in the 10th inning during his MLB debut Tuesday, the outfielder followed up that performance with two doubles Wednesday. The strong start shouldn't come as a complete surprise given his production in the minors, where he hit .306 with a .946 OPS across 55 games between Double-A and Triple-A prior to his promotion. Montgomery appears poised at the major-league level early in his tenure and should see consistent playing time in Chicago's outfield.

The White Sox selected Montgomery's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. The 23-year-old is one of the top prospects in baseball and is now set to make his major-league debut for the White Sox. Montgomery opened the campaign with Double-A Birmingham and posted a 1.035 OPS in 27 games before being promoted to Triple-A in early May. Montgomery then had an .864 OPS in 28 contests for Charlotte, and Chicago is now ready to give him a look in the big leagues. He's played both center and right field this season and should see plenty of playing time between those two spots for the White Sox.
