Marte isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Dodgers on Wednesday. Marte will step out of the starting nine after going 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's Game 1 loss. Spencer Steer will move to the outfield as a result, opening up first base for Sal Stewart.

Marte went 1-for-4 with a single and a run scored in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Pirates. Marte, who homered in a 4-3 extra-innings win Wednesday, helped keep the Reds' postseason hopes alive for a second consecutive day. He singled in Cincinnati's first run and scored what eventually was the game-deciding run in the fifth inning. He wasn't done. In the ninth inning, the converted infielder robbed Bryan Reynolds of a game-tying home run over the right-field wall and preserved the win. With Austin Hays (back) still unavailable, Marte should continue to play daily.

Marte is not in Saturday's lineup against the Cubs. Marte started five games in a row prior to sitting Thursday against a righty, starting Friday against a lefty and now sitting again against righty Javier Assad. In both cases, Will Benson has started in right field with Austin Hays in left. Marte is hitting .149 with 18 strikeouts and three walks over his last 12 games, so he may continue to lose playing time against righties. The Reds are tentatively scheduled to face only right-handed starters in their final eight games of the regular season.

Marte went 1-for-5 with two RBI in Monday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays. The Reds squandered a lead in the top of the ninth inning but mounted their own comeback in the bottom of the frame. Marte finished it with a two-run single to walk off Toronto. He's scuffled the last week, batting .200 (6-for-30) with a 36.4 strikeout percentage, but Marte has delivered key hits during that run, including two home runs in addition to Monday's heroics.

Marte started in center field and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers. Marte, who transitioned from third base to right field midseason, made his first career start in the center field. Unfortunately for the Reds, it showed in the sixth inning when Marte misjudged a flyball that sailed over his head for a two-run double. He was later moved to right field, which has been his home on the diamond for the last month.
