Jung underwent tendon release surgery on his right wrist Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Jung missed most of the first four months of the season after having surgery to repair a fracture in the same wrist, and he went back on the injured list in late September with recurring discomfort. The hope is that, following this most recent wrist surgery, he will be able to have a normal offseason after 3-4 weeks of rehab. Jung had a .719 OPS with seven homers over 46 games with the Rangers this season.

The Rangers placed Jung on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right wrist tendinitis. Jung's wrist has kept him sidelined for nearly a week, and his move to the IL will officially rule him out for the remainder of the season. With Ezequiel Duran away on paternity leave, Matt Duffy and Dustin Harris will come up from the minors and may see time at third base during the final week of the season.

The Rangers are expected to place Jung (wrist) on the 10-day injured list, ending his season, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Jung hasn't played since last Wednesday due to recurring discomfort in his surgically repaired right wrist. He is scheduled to be seen by a hand specialist Thursday in hopes of getting more information on the injury. Ezequiel Duran has started three of the last four games at third base and should continue to be the primary option at the position in the final week of the season. The Rangers are expected to promote either Dustin Harris or Sam Huff from the minors to take Jung's spot on the 28-man active roster.

Jung is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners. Jung started the first 13 games of September and will receive Sunday off after he began the month with three homers and an .881 OPS. Ezequiel Duran will shift to the hot corner while Carson Kelly receives a start at designated hitter.

Jung went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, a stolen base and a hit-by-pitch in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Yankees. Jung opened the scoring with a fourth-inning homer and contributed to the Rangers' comeback push with an RBI single in the eighth. The third baseman has gone 13-for-40 (.325) with two homers and three steals over his last 10 contests. That productive stretch has him up to a .276/.295/.455 slash line with six homers, four steals, 14 RBI and 16 runs scored through 34 games overall.
