• White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Still chances for playing time

  The White Sox intend to prioritize playing time for Vargas and Bryan Ramos down the stretch of the regular season, despite the return of Yoan Moncada (adductor) from the 60-day injured list, Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports. While Ramos appears to have the upper hand for chances at the hot corner, skipper Grady Sizemore stated in Monday's pregame press conference that he has no set plan to introduce Moncada back into the starting nine, and he'll continue to give both Vargas and Ramos plenty of playing time during the last few weeks of the season. Vargas will likely see opportunities to play at various positions around the diamond over the next 11 games as the club sets its sights on next year.

Vargas has struggled since being dealt to the White Sox, as he has collected only eight hits across 76 at-bats with one homer, four RBI and five runs scored. While poor team context deflates some of his numbers, he's also struck out at a 27.9 percent clip in that span. Despite those struggles, Vargas has remained the White Sox's primary third baseman, which should continue at least until Yoan Moncada (thigh) can return.
