• Mets' Andre Scrubb: Signs minors deal with Mets

  Scrubb signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Scrubb holds a 3.32 ERA and 1.48 WHIP across 43.1 frames in his career from his time with the Astros in 2020-21. Injuries and a lack of interest in free agency have kept Scrubb out of action since then. Considering how long it's been since Scrubb has pitched in a game, he will likely slide into an organizational depth role with the Mets.

  Scrubb was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the signing of Justin Verlander (elbow). Scrubb pitched in 18 games for Houston in 2021 and had a 5.03 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 21:14 K:BB over 19.2 innings.

• Astros' Andre Scrubb: Activated, optioned

  Scrubb (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. Scrubb began a rehab assignment at the end of August and recorded a 1.69 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 5.1 innings across 5.1 innings. He'll remain in the minors now that he's healthy but will be considered for a call-up if the Astros need a fresh bullpen arm late in the season.

  Scrubb (shoulder) threw one scoreless inning with one walk and two strikeouts for Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports. Scrubb made the second of what is expected to be several minor-league appearances. He currently resides on the 60-day injured list, and the earliest he could be back is Sept. 19. The Astros got their bullpen sorted out at the trade deadline, so Scrubb will likely be used in low-leverage situations upon his return.

  Scrubb (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. Scrubb has been out since July 19 with a right shoulder strain. He began a flat-ground throwing program Friday but will not be eligible to return to the Astros until September 19. Before the injury, Scrubb pitched to a 5.03 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 19.2 innings of relief while blowing two saves in 18 appearances. Pedro Baez (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day IL to fill Scrubb's 40-man roster spot Tuesday.
