No slowing Paul Goldschmidt down
Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is showing no signs of slowing down with another multi-hit game Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Goldschmidt had a grand slam, his 14th home run, and went 2 for 5 with four RBI in a 10-3 win. He also scored a run.
Goldschmidt has six multi-hit games in his last 10, batting .405 with two home runs, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored in that span. He ranks fifth in the National League in batting average (.336), fourth in home runs (14), first in RBI (53) and fourth in runs scored (42).

Anthony Rizzo comes through in clutch
Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo came up with a huge hit late in Wednesday's game against the Angels, as he broke open a scoreless tie in the 10th inning.
Rizzo hit a bases-clearing double with the bases loaded and two outs, to put the Cubs up 8-5. They would go on to win, 8-6, with Rizzo going 2 for 6 with the three RBI.
Rizzo is batting .259 on the season, while ranking ninth in the National League in home runs (10) and 10th in RBI (39).

Ryan Howard hustles around bases for triple
Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard drove in a pair of runs on his 18th career triple Wednesday against the Marlins. It was his first triple since 2011.
The triple was Howard's lone hit and he's managed just one multi-hit game in his last 11 appearances (10 starts). He's batting .216 (8 for 37) with one home run, one triple, three doubles and four RBI in his past 11 games.

'Great approach' benefiting Paul Goldschmidt
Paul Goldschmidt ripped a run-scoring single in the 14th inning to lift the Diamondbacks to a 7-6 win Tuesday against the Cardinals. Goldschmidt's winning hit improved his average to .376 with runners on base.
"I pretend there is nobody on base and just stick with my same approach," he said. "It's worked so far. We'll see what happens the rest of the year."
Goldschmidt collected three hits Tuesday, which included two doubles. He has at least one RBI in each of his first four June games (eight total RBI) and three multi-hit games. Since May 1, Goldschmidt is batting .378 (42 for 111) with eight home runs, 11 doubles and 31 RBI. His batting average has gone from .287 to .335 in that span.
"He's just got a great approach up there," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said of Goldschmidt.

Marlins second baseman Donovan Solano played six innings Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader for Class A Jupiter in his minor-league rehab debut.
Solano went 3 for 3 with an RBI, his first action since suffering a strained intercostal muscle early in May.

Marlins second baseman Donovan Solano will begin his minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday for Class A Jupiter. Solano, who has been out since May 7 with an intercostals strain, will play second base in the first game of the team's doubleheader Tuesday.

Freddie Freeman had two hits Sunday and drove in two runs to help the Atlanta Braves defeat Washington. The first baseman was 2 for 4.
In his last 10 games, Freeman is hitting .405 with three home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored. The downside is that he's walked once in that span.
Freeman's batting average is .314 and he has five home runs, 27 runs scored and 36 RBI.

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt enjoyed a productive night at the dish as he reached base three times and launched a grand slam Saturday night against the Cubs.
Goldschmidt went deep in the eighth inning for a grand slam that broke the game open for the Diamondbacks. He added a single and finished 2 for 5 with a walk, three runs scored and four RBI in a 12-4 victory.
Goldschmidt is hitting .428 (12 for 28) with nine RBI in his last seven games. He has a .332/.411/.603 slash line with 13 homers and 45 RBI in 54 games played. -

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt continued his assault on the ball Thursday, going 4 for 5 in a 9-5 loss to the Rangers.
Goldschmit drove in a run on a seventh-inning single, and he added his 15th double later in the loss. Goldschmidt is hitting .337, though he has not homered in 10 games.
Goldschmidt is hitting .393 in May -- with seven home runs, 23 RBI and 16 runs scored -- and a game remaining. He has nine multi-hit games in the month, including three games with at least four hits.
