  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Won't be activated Saturday

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that Bohm is still experiencing some soreness in his left hamstring and won't come off the injured list Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Instead, Bohm will test his hamstring in a team workout. It sounds like the 26-year-old corner infielder should be ready to return by early next week and possibly as early as Sunday.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Phillies' Drew Ellis: Remains on bench

Ellis is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Dodgers.

Ellis will remain on the bench for a second consecutive game, both of which came against left-handed starters -- a troubling sign for his playing time. Edmundo Sosa will draw the start at the hot corner while Kody Clemens handles first base in the series opener with Los Angeles.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Headed to injured list

Alonso (wrist) will be placed on the injured list, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.

The Mets had been waiting on the results of imaging on the slugger's left wrist after he was hit by a pitch Wednesday, and evidently they received bad news. Until an official diagnosis is announced, how long Alonso might be out is unclear. Mark Vientos could take over as the Mets' regular first baseman while Alonso is sidelined.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Two hits, walk-off winner

Clemens went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Tigers.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Clemens lined a base hit off Alex Lange to give the Phillies a walk-off win. The 27-year-old Clemens has filled in nicely at first base for Alec Bohm (hamstring), going 15-for-46 (.326) over his last 14 games. He's now slashing .267/.320/.433 with four homers, 13 runs scored and 11 RBI through 97 plate appearances.

  • Matt Mervis 1B | WAS

Cubs' Matt Mervis: Out against lefty

Mervis isn't in the Cubs' lineup Thursday against the Angels.

With the left-handed Reid Detmers set to start the game on the mound for Los Angeles, Mervis will retreat to the dugout. Trey Mancini will fill in at first base and bat seventh.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Undergoes imaging on wrist

Mets manager Buck Showalter said Alonso underwent both a CT scan and MRI on his left wrist Thursday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Alonso had the CT scan in Atlanta on Thursday morning after taking a pitch off his wrist Wednesday, and he then flew back to New York in the afternoon to undergo the MRI. Showalter added that he's hopeful the power-hitting first baseman will be ready to play in Friday's series opener at Pittsburgh, but the results of the scans are not yet available.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: On track for Saturday

Bohm (hamstring) is likely to return from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Bohm went through a full workout Thursday without issue and is tracking toward just a 10-day absence to heal his mild left hamstring strain. He's needed in Philadelphia to help at both third base and first base.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Held out Thursday

Alonso (wrist) isn't in the Mets' lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Alonso made an early exit Wednesday after taking a fastball to the wrist and will get a day off Thursday to heal. Mark Vientos will take over at first base for the Mets and bat ninth.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: No timetable for return

Cron (back) said Thursday that he's still experiencing pain in his lower back, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Cron also acknowledged that there is no timetable for his return to Colorado's active roster. He's been on the injured list since mid-May due to lingering back issues and hasn't responded well to a period of rest and treatment. Nolan Jones is getting a lot of run at first base for the Rockies in Cron's absence, with Mike Moustakas also mixing in.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Phillies' Drew Ellis: Not starting Thursday

Ellis isn't in the Phillies' lineup Thursday against the Tigers.

After having started five consecutive games, Ellis will get a breather to close out Philly's series with Detroit. Josh Harrison will start at third base in Ellis' place and bat ninth.
