Goldschmidt is absent from the lineup Thursday in Cincinnati, 101 ESPN St. Louis reports.

Goldschmidt had served as the designated hitter the previous two days and now is out of the lineup entirely for Thursday's series finale. The Cardinals are resting several regulars for the afternoon tilt.

Steer went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Cardinals.

All four knocks were singles, but Steer still paced a Cincy attack that stung St. Louis pitching for a season-high 18 hits. The 25-year-old extended his hitting streak to seven games with the performance, and through 21 contests in May he's slashing .294/.355/.506 with four homers, 12 runs and 13 RBI.

Olson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 4-3 win against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Olson broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a moonshot to right field that traveled an estimated 456 feet. It was his sixth hit over his past six games, all of which have gone for extra bases (three doubles, three homers). Olson is up to 14 long balls on the campaign, tied for third-most in the majors.

Gurriel went 4-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, two runs scored and a steal in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Rockies.

Gurriel delivered a two-out single in the fourth to drive home the Marlins' first run of the game. He followed that with a triple in the sixth inning. Gurriel has eight hits in the last three games, but just one of those went for extra bases. Gurriel's power disappeared last season and hasn't returned in 2023. However, his average is creeping back up and sits at .291. Gurriel also picked up his second steal of the season thanks to a rundown gone wrong for the Rockies.

Dixon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Dixon will retreat to the bench after he had manned first base in three of the Padres' last four games, with all of his starts coming against left-handed pitching. The 31-year-old looks like he could handle a short-side platoon role for the Padres while Manny Machado (hand) is on the 10-day injured list.

Cronenworth went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and three walks against the Nationals in a 7-4 win Tuesday.

Cronenworth reached four base four times in the victory, the third time this season he's accomplished that feat. The 29-year-old gave San Diego some breathing room and capped the team's scoring with a two-run shot in the seventh inning. Despite the excellent effort Tuesday, Cronenworth has been slumping of late, slashing .143/.354/.306 with a 26.2 percent strikeout rate over his past 15 games.

Dixon went 1-for-2 with a solo home run Tuesday in a 7-4 win over Washington.

Dixon got the start at first base and swatted a 403-foot solo homer to center field in the fourth inning. It was his first long ball in eight games this season and his first major-league home run since he played with Detroit in 2019. Dixon went deep 15 times that year but spent most of the following two seasons in Japan before logging most of his time last year in San Diego's minor-league system. He's smacked 30 homers over his last 76 contests between Double-A and Triple A across two seasons, but his playing time in the majors has been limited and doesn't figure to increase significantly given the Padres' loaded roster.

Toglia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Mike Moustakas will step in at first base after Toglia had started at the position in five of the Rockies' previous seven games. The 24-year-old switch hitter is slashing .150/.190/.200 over 21 plate appearances with the big club this season, so he wouldn't seem to have much leash atop the depth chart while the Rockies continue to play without C.J. Cron (back).

Alonso went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and an additional RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

Alonso plated the Mets' only two runs of the game on a solo homer in the fourth and an RBI groundout in the sixth. He's now up to five home runs over his last seven games and has distanced himself a little bit at the top of the league with 18 on the year. The 28-year-old is slashing .230/.325/.541 with 43 RBI, 33 runs and a 24:45 BB:K over 209 plate appearances.

Gurriel went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies.

Gurriel has seen limited playing time since Garrett Cooper returned from an inner ear infection May 14. Over three games since that date, Gurriel has gone 4-for-10 with one RBI. It appears he'll remain in a reserve role as long as the Marlins' infield is healthy. For the season, the 38-year-old is slashing .263/.306/.384 with three home runs, nine RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base through 108 plate appearances.
