Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Reclaims MLB homer lead
Alonso went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Rockies.
Alonso's 48th home run of the season ended a seven-game stretch in which the rookie struck out 11 times in 23 at-bats while supplying only one extra-base hit (a double). He'll also enter Wednesday's series finale at Coors Field in sole possession of the MLB home-run lead, though the Reds' Eugenio Suarez (47) lingers close behind.

Wilmer Flores 1B | SF
Diamondbacks' Wilmer Flores: Not in lineup
Flores is not starting Wednesday against Miami.
Flores owns an excellent .405/.450/.716 slash line with six homers and just six strikeouts over his last 22 games. Eduardo Escobar will be the second baseman Wednesday, with Jake Lamb starting at third base.

Chris Shaw 1B | CHW
Giants' Chris Shaw: Serves as DH
Shaw went 0-for-3 as a designated hitter in Tuesday's 7-6 victory over the Red Sox.
The Boston native was granted his first start of the season, but he was lifted after just three plate appearances once a lefty was brought out of the bullpen. The Red Sox have the right-handed Jhoulys Chacin set to take the bump Wednesday, so Shaw could be in the starting nine again with the benefit of the DH spot. The 25-year-old has been used sparsely (1-for-10) since being called up Sept. 1 despite posting a robust .947 OPS over 75 games with Triple-A Sacramento this year.

Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE
Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Smacks two-run homer
Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Tuesday against the Braves.
Hoskins took Dallas Keuchel deep in the fourth inning for his 29th home run of the season. While he's still hitting just .239, Hoskins is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak. Hoskins has chipped in 83 runs and 83 RBI across 148 contests this season.

Josh Naylor 1B | SEA
Padres' Josh Naylor: Out of starting nine
Naylor isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.
Naylor delivered his eighth homer of the season in Monday's series opener, but he'll retreat to the bench Tuesday. Hunter Renfroe draws the start in right field and will hit fifth.

Keston Hiura 2B | LAD
Brewers' Keston Hiura: Returns to starting lineup
Hiura (hamstring) is starting at second base and batting fifth Tuesday against San Diego.
Hiura saw two pinch-hit appearances over the weekend, and he's since been cleared to return to the starting lineup after missing time with a left hamstring injury. He's slashing .302/.370/.571 with 16 homers, 43 RBI and nine stolen bases over 72 games this season.

Josh Bell DH | MIN
Pirates' Josh Bell: Out again Tuesday
Bell (groin) isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.
Unsurprisingly, Bell will be held out again Tuesday after suffering a left groin injury Friday night. He's not expected to return to the starting lineup until Pittsburgh's series against Milwaukee at the earliest. Jose Osuna should see time at first base until Bell is cleared to return.
-
Joey Votto 1B | TOR
Reds' Joey Votto: Back in starting nine
Votto (illness) is starting at first base and batting second Tuesday against the Cubs.
Votto was scratched from Monday's lineup due to illness, but he's been cleared to return for the second game of the series. He's batting .340 with two homers, six RBI and eight walks over 14 games in September.

Matt Beaty 1B | KC
Dodgers' Matt Beaty: In mix for postseason roster
Beaty is a serious candidate to make the postseason roster, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Beaty did not begin the season identified as one of the organization's top prospects but has made an impact with his steady bat and versatility in the field. He has compiled a .279/.328/.485 slash line with nine homers and 46 RBI in 250 plate appearances this season while seeing time at first base, third base and in left field. Although manager Dave Roberts has not committed to Beaty's inclusion on the postseason roster, he did acknowledge that the absence of Alex Verdugo (oblique) has opened the door for such a scenario to take place.
