  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Posts steal and bomb Saturday

Hoskins went 1-for-2 with a home run, a steal, three walks and two RBI on Saturday against the Nationals.

Hoskins crushed his 14th home run of the season to tie the game at one in the second inning of a game the Phillies would go on to win. His incredible assault upon major-league pitching continues, as he's slashing .308/.433/.750.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Returns to lineup Saturday

Goldschmidt (elbow) is back in the lineup Saturday against the Padres.

An MRI earlier in the week cleared Goldschmidt of any structural damage to his elbow, and he was able to successfully ramp up his baseball activities in recent days with no major issues. The 29-year-old will look to continue his push for the National League MVP; he's in the top 10 in virtually every hitting category and is fifth in the league in fWAR.

  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Back in action Saturday

Cabrera (back) is starting at third base and batting third Saturday against the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera is back in action after missing Friday's game with a back issue. He was originally expected to miss Saturday's game as a precaution, but everything apparently checked out prior to the contest, allowing him to return sooner than expected. With Wilmer Flores (nose) shut down for the season, Cabrera should see the bulk of starts at third base down the stretch.

  • Tommy Joseph 1B | TEX

Phillies' Tommy Joseph: Out of lineup Saturday

Joseph is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

He will head to the bench for the second straight game as Rhys Hoskins once again mans first base. Joseph won't be phased out entirely, but with Odubel Herrera and Aaron Altherr (hamstring) back from the DL, his playing time will take a hit.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Marlins' Justin Bour: Gets breather Saturday

Bour is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Braves, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Bour went 1-for-3 in his return from the disabled list Friday, but he'll head to the bench for Saturday's contest as the Marlins ease him back into action. J.T. Realmuto will cover first base in his stead, with A.J. Ellis stepping in behind the dish.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Three hits in Friday's loss

Bell went 3-for-4 in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Cardinals.

No other Pirate had more than one hit on the night, as Bell got little help from his teammates. The first baseman leads all NL rookies with 127 hits, and his .304/.374/.514 slash line in the second half is cementing his spot as a big part of Pittsburgh's future.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Continues to rake

Hoskins went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two runs and three RBI Friday against the Nationals.

Hoskins crushed his 10th bomb of the year to bring the Phillies within three runs in the seventh inning of a road defeat. The rookie has been an amazing story during the second half of the season, as he still boasts a .304/.418/.725 slash line while helping lead many fantasy teams to successful seasons.

  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Expects to return soon

Cabrera (back) will be held out of Saturday's lineup but said his injury isn't serious, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

The MRI Cabrera received Friday apparently didn't reveal any major structural damage. The Mets have a day off Monday before beginning a series in Chicago on Tuesday, and it would be a moderate surprise if Cabrera wasn't ready to go by following the off day.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Increasing level of activity

Goldschmidt (elbow) participated in baseball activities prior to Friday's game against the Padres.

Manager Torey Lovullo said that the club wanted to give Goldschmidt an extra day to approach his full level of activity, which is why he was withheld from the lineup again Friday. The plan is for Goldschmidt to be evaluated Saturday, so information regarding his availability should be available heading into Arizona's outing versus San Diego. If Goldschmidt has to miss another game, look for Daniel Descalso to fill in at first base.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Remains out Friday

Goldschmidt (elbow) isn't in the lineup Friday against the Padres.

Goldschmidt recently expressed optimism regarding his status and said he thought he'd be ready to return for Friday's game. Although he's eager to play, the Diamondbacks are being careful with the star first baseman, as Goldschmidt is being withheld from the lineup for the fifth consecutive game. Daniel Descalso will start at first base and hit fifth in place of Goldschmidt on Friday night.
