  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Cranks solo homer

Hoskins went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk Saturday against the Padres.

Hoskins took Yu Darvish deep in the second inning, then he connected for an RBI double off the San Diego starter in the sixth. It was the first multi-hit effort since June 22 for Hoskins, who came into the day with a .312 OPS over his last eight games. The 28-year-old leads the Phillies in homers (18) and RBI (46), but that production has come with a pedestrian .225/.301/.460 slash line, while his .761 OPS is on pace for the lowest of his career.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Socks 11th homer

Votto went 2-for-2 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Cubs.

It was a vintage Votto performance, as he reached base three times and slugged his 11th homer of the year in the fourth inning for the Reds' first run of the day. The veteran first baseman has been locked in lately, going 12-for-36 (.333) over the last 10 games with three doubles, three long balls, six runs and seven RBI.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

    Indians' Josh Naylor: Undergoes surgery

Naylor (ankle) underwent successful surgery Friday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Naylor's procedure repaired multiple fibula fractures and ligament tearing after he was carted off the field in Sunday's loss to the Twins. The 24-year-old doesn't yet have a timetable for his return, but he's expected to begin his rehab process within the next week.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Knocks three hits

Smith went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored against the Yankees on Saturday.

The Mets scored all of their eight runs during the fifth and sixth innings, and Smith was right in the middle of both rallies. His RBI single in the fifth opened the scoring, and his double the following inning plated two more runs. Smith has racked up five hits and 12 total bases over his past two contests to boost his average from .245 to .256. He's slashing .409/.409/.727 in his last seven games, including Thursday's two-homer performance.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Not in Saturday's lineup

Flores isn't starting Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Flores will get a breather after he went 2-for-7 with a home run, three RBI, three runs and two walks across the last two games. LaMonte Wade will start at first base while Thairo Estrada draws the start at the hot corner.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: Sits against southpaw

Bell isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Bell will be out of the lineup for a second straight game with left-hander Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers. Ryan Zimmerman will start at first base and bat third.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Back in action Saturday

Dalbec (hamstring) is batting eighth and playing first base in Saturday's game against the Athletics, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

After missing three consecutive games with hamstring tightness, Dalbec, who's hit .273 against lefties this season, returns to face southpaw Cole Irvin. Though his .218 average in 2021 is nothing special, Dalbec has hit .315 with four homers and 10 RBI in his last 15 games.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Blasts two-run shot

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Friday's win over Tampa Bay.

Guerrero ended a rare four-game homer drought with a two-run blast Friday and is now just three away from tying Shohei Ohtani for the MLB lead in that department. The star slugger has gone yard five times over his last 12 games.

  • Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Not starting Saturday

O'Hearn isn't starting Saturday's game against Minnesota, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

O'Hearn recently drew 10 consecutive starts, but he'll take a seat for a second straight matchup. Jorge Soler will serve as the designated hitter while Hanser Alberto enters the lineup at second base.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Tallies three RBI

Wade went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double, a walk and three RBI in Friday's 11-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Wade got the Giants on the board in the second with a sacrifice fly and only got better as the game went on. He doubled in the fourth and then ripped a two-run blast to right in the eighth, giving the Giants a 7-2 cushion. Wade has been a pleasant addition to the lineup since his June 25 callup, as he's slashing .286/.360/.762 with three homers, six RBI, four runs scored and a 2:4 BB:K over seven games. The 27-year-old should remain a regular fixture in the lineup while the Giants are dealing with injuries to some of their key players.
