  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Back in action

Cooper (quadriceps) will serve as the Marlins' designated hitter and will bat fifth Monday against the Braves, Andre Fernandez of Sirius XM Radio reports.

Cooper hadn't started in either of the Marlins' last two games while battling the quad issue, though he was cleared to make a pinch-hit appearance in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Rays. After being reassessed early Monday, Cooper gained clearance to re-enter the lineup in the series opener in Atlanta, pushing rookie Lewin Diaz back to a bench role as a result. Since coming off the COVID-19 injured list in late August, Cooper has gone 8-for-30 (.267 average) with two home runs, three doubles, seven RBI and three runs in eight contests.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Strikeouts piling up

Bohm went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Sunday's 14-1 loss to the Mets.

Two-time Cy Young award winner Jacob deGrom made a number of the Philadelphia hitters look foolish Sunday, but none struggled more than the rookie Bohm, who swung and missed at eight pitches from the Mets ace on the day. Bohm, who has gone 1-for-12 with nine strikeouts in the first three games of the series, will look to right the ship in Monday's finale. He'll start at third base and will bat eighth against Mets rookie lefty David Peterson.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Homers again

Dalbec went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Dalbec homered for the second consecutive game, taking Robbie Ray deep in the fourth inning. He now has three home runs on the season, though he has struck out 14 times in 28 plate appearances to start his major-league career.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Smacks eighth homer

Tellez went 3-for-6 with a home run, one RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Red Sox.

Tellez took Robinson Leyer deep in the sixth inning to record his eighth home run of the season. He's now riding a four-game hitting streak, during which he has collected nine hits in 16 at-bats. Tellez is hitting .295/.361/.562 across 116 plate appearances this year.

  • Kevin Padlo 1B | LAD

Rays' Kevin Padlo: On taxi squad

Padlo is on the four-man taxi squad that will travel with the Rays to Washington, D.C. for the two-game road set against the Nationals that begins Monday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Padlo has been working at the team's alternate training site in Port Charlotte, and he'll now have an outside chance at seeing his first major-league action over the first part of the week. The 24-year-old has been toiling in the organization's minor-league system since 2014 and slashed .290/.400/.595 with nine home runs and 27 RBI across 155 plate appearances at Triple-A Durham in 2019.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Remains without timetable

Diaz (hamstring) has been staying off his right leg and remains without a timetable for return, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Diaz went on the injured list Tuesday in the midst of a strong season that sees him slashing .307/.427/.386 across 138 pate appearances. Soft-tissue injuries can be notoriously tricky when it comes to a recovery timeline, and this report seems to imply Diaz is just in the early stages of his absence. Time is unfortunately working against the 29-year-old when it comes to returning before the regular season concludes, but with the Rays heading to the postseason, they could prioritize making sure he's healthy for the playoffs.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Drives in two

Santana went 2-for-3 with a double, walk and two RBI in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Brewers.

Santana drove in Jose Ramirez with a double in the first and later knocked him in again with a single in the sixth. The first baseman is slashing .203/.362/.312 with 19 RBI this season.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Giants' Donovan Solano: Collects three hits

Solano went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double, and a walk in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Solano needed only a triple to complete the cycle but still enjoyed a perfect day at the dish Sunday. His two-run shot in the sixth inning proved to be the go-ahead knock in the Giants win. The 34-year-old owns a terrific .344/.388/.516 slash line with 27 RBI and 16 extra-base hits across 139 plate appearances this season.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Slugs ninth homer

Rizzo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Rizzo took Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson deep in the first inning, almost straight to center field. The long ball was Rizzo's ninth of the year and first since he slugged a pair Aug. 29 versus the Reds. The first baseman has added 18 RBI, 22 runs scored and a stolen base through 40 games.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Hits another grand slam

Freeman went 1-for-4 with a grand slam, two runs, one walk and one strikeout in Sunday's win against the Nationals.

Freeman blasted the first grand slam of his career Friday, and he now has two over the past three games following Sunday's performance. The 30-year-old had his 18-game hit streak snapped Saturday, but he bounced back by reaching base twice in Sunday's series finale. Freeman now has a 1.000 OPS with seven home runs and 30 RBI this year.
