Walker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Walker will get a routine breather after he started in each of the previous 15 contests. The Astros will go with the freshly activated Victor Caratini at first base as they try to even the series against the Yankees.

The Red Sox recalled Sogard from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday. He'll start at second base and bat eighth in the Red Sox's series finale against the Guardians.

Sogard will be joining the 28-man active roster as a replacement for outfielder Roman Anthony, who was placed on the injured list with an oblique strain, which is likely to keep him out for the remainder of the regular season. Though the Red Sox have two openings in the everyday lineup with Anthony and Wilyer Abreu (calf) on the shelf, Sogard won't necessarily be in store for a full-time role. Sogard's status as a switch hitter along with his ability to play multiple infield and outfield spots could work in his favor if the Red Sox elect to take a platoon approach to either of the vacant lineup spots, however.

Steer (leg) will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Steer will return to the lineup after a two-game absence due to a minor leg injury. Top prospect Sal Stewart had started at first base in both of the previous two contests while Steer managed the leg issue, but the rookie could end up shifting into more of a utility role moving forward, assuming Steer is able to maintain health.

Stewart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Following his promotion from Triple-A Louisville on Monday, Stewart started at first base in the first two games of the series with Toronto and went 2-for-8 with a run scored. Though he'll be on the bench Wednesday while Spencer Steer (leg) checks back in at first base following a two-game absence, Stewart could still have a path to at least semi-regular playing time in September while moving between second base and designated hitter.

The Angels claimed Davidson off waivers from the Astros on Wednesday.

Davidson will move on to his third organization of the season, after Houston previously claimed him off waivers from the Athletics on July 25. The 27-year-old corner infielder has played in just nine career games at the big-league level, but the Angels could give him a look at some point in September as the organization looks to better assess how he fits into their long-term plans. Between his stops at the Triple-A affiliates of the Athletics and Astros this season, Davidson has slashed .252/.387/.399 with 10 home runs, seven stolen bases and a 17.2 percent walk rate over 419 plate appearances.

The Red Sox will recall Sogard from Triple-A Worcester if Roman Anthony (oblique) requires a stint on the 10-day injured list, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

The Red Sox are awaiting MRI results on Anthony's left oblique, but they have Sogard on standby in case a roster move is required. Kristian Campbell could also be in consideration for a promotion if Anthony faces an extended absence, but Sogard will be the team's initial choice to replace the star rookie.

Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Since receiving a promotion from Triple-A Round Rock on July 18, Tellez has operated as the Rangers' preferred first baseman against right-handed pitching, but his hold on a strong-side platoon role could be loosening. Over his last 10 games, Tellez has cobbled together a middling .172/.250/.379 slash line. Even with righty Zac Gallen on the bump for Arizona, Tellez will give way to the right-handed-hitting Jake Burger at first base.

Burleson hopes to take batting practice in the coming days after an anti-inflammatory injection alleviated discomfort in his injured right wrist, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

If Burleson is able to take batting practice soon, he could avoid a rehab assignment and be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Sept. 8. Burleson is second only to Ivan Herrera on the Cardinals with a wRC+ of 120 this season.

Yorke went 1-for-2 on Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Yorke was called up to the majors when rosters expanded and made his first appearance of 2025. He started at first base and hit seventh with lefty Clayton Kershaw on the mound and tallied his first hit in the opening frame. Yorke could settle into a short-side platoon with Spencer Horwitz at first base.

Alonso went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 12-5 win over the Tigers.

The first baseman racked up 823 feet worth of long balls by taking Sawyer Gipson-Long deep in the first inning and Chris Paddack in the seventh. Alonso is up to 33 homers on the season through 139 games, including five in his last 11 contests, and with 23 games left on the Mets' schedule, he's got a shot at reaching 40 for the fourth time in his career.
