  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Goes deep again Thursday

Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, two total runs and two total RBI against the Yankees in a 9-2 win Thursday.

Guerrero both started and capped the scoring in the contest with an RBI double in the first inning and a solo homer in the sixth. The first baseman recorded his fourth straight multi-hit game, a span in which he's gone 9-for-19 with with three homers and 11 RBI. Guerrero has gone deep four times across his past six games after hitting just seven homers in his first 74 contests of the campaign.

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Dealing with hamstring issue

Harper felt hamstring tightness while running to first base in the ninth inning of Thursday's game against the Marlins, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Harper sustained the injury on a groundout to end the game. Manager Rob Thompson said no more details were known about the issue but that there would be more information Friday.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

    Tigers' Mark Canha: Sitting Thursday

Canha is absent from Thursday's lineup against the Angels.

Canha had started Detroit's last 22 games but hit only .211 in that span. He had a 15.9 percent strikeout rate during that stretch -- lessening the reason for concern -- though he'll still get a day of rest. Gio Urshela is sliding to first base, Matt Vierling to third, and Adkil Baddoo enters the lineup in left field.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Poised to come off IL Friday

Wade (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wade has been sidelined for the past month with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain but has been cleared to return after playing three rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento, going 1-for-7 with a 2:4 K:BB. The 30-year-old has slashed a robust .333/.470/.426 for the Giants this season and will go back to receiving regular starts at first base against right-handed pitching.

  • David Villar 1B | SF

Giants' David Villar: Sitting against lefty Thursday

Villar is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wilmer Flores will man first base while the Cubs send southpaw Shota Imanaga to the mound, but even though he's a right-handed hitter like Flores, Villar looks as though he'll be the preferred option against right-handed pitching. Villar started both of the last two nights against righties, going 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. The 27-year-old's stay atop the depth chart may not last long, however, as top first baseman LaMonte Wade (hamstring) is in the midst of a rehab assignment and could be activated from the injured list as soon as this weekend.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Improving at plate

Tellez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Reds.

Tellez led off the fourth inning with his third home run of the season, two of which have come in his last 14 games. He's been productive in that span by going 17-for-48 with eight RBI and seven runs scored. Though it's been a positive stretch for Tellez, he still has just a .617 OPS for the season with a .324 slugging percentage.

  • Nate Lowe DH | CIN

    Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Clobbers homer

Lowe went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an RBI single during Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers in 10 innings.

Lowe teed off on Dallas Keuchel Wednesday, tagging the Brewers' starter for an RBI single in the second inning before launching a two-run shot off Keuchel in the fourth. The long ball was Lowe's first in 37 games and his third of the campaign. He's batting .257 with nine runs and seven RBI over 23 games in June.

  • Jake Bauers 1B | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Smashes grand slam

Bauers went 1-for-4 with a grand slam during Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Rangers in 10 innings.

Bauers got the Brewers on the board in the third inning, plating Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich and Willy Adames on a grand slam off Nathan Eovaldi. The grand slam was the second of Bauers' career. Though he's been splitting time with Rhys Hoskins at first base, Bauers is batting .273 with nine RBI and seven runs in his last 18 games.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Picks up fourth steal

Goldschmidt went 2-for-7 with a double, a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Atlanta.

While far from a breakout on offense, Goldschmidt has hit safely in nine straight games. In that span, he's gone 11-for-37 (.297) with a 3:12 BB:K, two home runs and five RBI. The first baseman's power and consistency are slowly returning, but he's still striking out at a 29.5 percent rate, his worst mark since his rookie year. Goldschmidt has added a .232/.301/.364 slash line with 10 homers, 32 RBI, 38 runs scored and four steals over 76 games this season.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Extends hitting streak to 19

Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Mariners.

With his first-inning single off George Kirby, Diaz extended his streak to 19 games and tied the franchise record in the process. He's been a great tone-setter, with 40 RBI out of the leadoff spot this season, one of five players to reach that mark thus far. The 32-year-old has been on a tear in June, hitting .343 with three homers and 15 RBI.
