Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Slams 30th homer
Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Royals on Wednesday.
Walker's solo home run was no cheap shot, as he tagged Scott Barlow for a 456-foot blast to center field in the ninth inning. The long ball established a new career high for the veteran first baseman and gave him his first 30-homer campaign. Walker has gone 15-for-38 (.395 average) over his past 10 contests, and he is tied with Pete Alonso for fourth in the National League in home runs on the campaign.

Matt Olson 1B | ATL
Braves' Matt Olson: Extra-base barrage Wednesday
Olson went 3-for-5 with a walk, two doubles, a grand slam and a second run scored in Wednesday's 14-2 rout of the Pirates.
The first baseman is now tied for third in the majors with 66 extra-base hits, including a career-high 39 doubles, and only Aaron Judge (68) and Olson's teammate Austin Riley (67) are ahead of him on that leaderboard. Olson's been providing plenty of power in August, batting .239 (22-for-92) through 23 games with six of his 27 homers on the year and 20 of his 87 RBI.

Nate Lowe 1B | CIN
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Drives in five
Lowe went 3-for-6 with a home run, a triple, five RBI and three runs scored Wednesday against the Rockies.
Lowe played a big role in the Rangers' offensive outburst Wednesday, starting with an RBI triple in the opening frame. He added a three-run homer in the eighth inning, his 20th long ball of the season and fourth in his last seven starts. On the campaign, Lowe is now hitting .295/.344/.485 across 488 plate appearances.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Resting Wednesday
Goldschmidt isn't starting Wednesday against the Cubs, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Goldschmidt has recorded hits in eight of his last nine games, slashing .405/.452/.730 with three home runs, three doubles, 11 RBI and seven runs during that time. He'll get a rare day off while Brendan Donovan starts at first base and bats second.

Dillon Paulson 1B | LAD
Rays' Dillon Paulson: Active at High-A
Double-A Montgomery reinstated Paulson (knee) from its injured list and assigned him to High-A Bowling Green on Tuesday. He started at first base and went 0-for-1 with a walk and an RBI in a 3-1 win over Rome.
Paulson was making his 2022 full-season debut Tuesday, after a torn ACL sustained last May kept him out of commission for just over 14 months. He began a rehab assignment Aug. 1 in the rookie-level Florida Complex League and went 8-for-24 with an 8:4 BB:K in nine games before being cleared to join Bowling Green.

Nick Pratto 1B | TEX
Royals' Nick Pratto: Sits against righty again
Pratto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Pratto's playing-time outlook appeared to improve when Vinnie Pasquantino (shoulder) was moved to the injured list Tuesday, but the lefty-hitting Pratto will now find himself on the bench against a right-handed pitcher (Zac Gallen) for the second time in three games. Hunter Dozier will pick up the start at first base in place of Pratto, who is hitting .163 with a 36.5 percent strikeout rate over his first 33 big-league games.

Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE
Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Not in Wednesday's lineup
Calhoun isn't starting Wednesday against the Rockies.
Calhoun started the last three games but went just 1-for-10 with a walk and four strikeouts. He'll get a breather while Bubba Thompson starts in left field and bats ninth.

C.J. Cron 1B | BOS
Rockies' C.J. Cron: Hits 24th home run
Cron went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 7-6 victory over the Rangers on Tuesday,
Cron mashed his 24th home run with a game-winning three-run shot in the seventh off Brock Burke. Cron picked up his 83rd RBI with the home run, which was his second of August, and is slugging .499 over 455 at-bats this season.

Nate Lowe 1B | CIN
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Second-half surge continues
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies.
Lowe's defensive issues persist, but he's more resembling a first baseman with his bat this season. The home run was his career-high 19th, and Lowe's been one of the game's best hitters since the All-Star break. Lowe ranks first in hits (45), fourth in average (.349) and eighth in slugging (.581) over the second half. He's under team control heading into 2023 and there isn't much depth at first base in the system, unless there's a plan to have Josh Jung, who's dabbled at first base in the minors, become permanent there.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Luck improving
Walker went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Royals.
Walker's eighth-inning double plated the winning run, his team high 71st run batted in. Dogged by a low batting average despite upper-level hard-hit and expected rates, Walker's luck has turned around during the month of August. The first baseman's BABIP is .333 for the month, translating to a monthly line of .333/.393/.641. For the season, Walker is slashing .224/.321/.474 with 29 home runs (tying his career high), 71 RBI and 60 runs scored.
