Brewers' Robert Gasser: Set for opener duties
Robert Gasser is expected to serve as Milwaukee's opening pitcher for Saturday's game against the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.Gasser will be making his second start since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sept. 21, though he's not expected to work deep enough into Saturday's contest to qualify for a win. The left-hander -- who allowed two earned runs on one hit and two walks across three innings last Sunday in St. Louis -- could be in line for a similar workload Saturday before turning the game over to Jacob Misiorowski, who is expected to work in bulk relief.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Yields two runs in season debut
Robert Gasser (0-1) allowed two runs on one hit and two walks over three innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against St. Louis.Gasser threw a pair of scoreless frames before serving up a two-run shot to Ivan Herrera in the third inning. It was Gasser's first MLB appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024. He posted an impressive 2.57 ERA over 28 MLB innings last season before the injury. This year, he produced a 2.37 ERA through 38 innings while rehabbing across multiple minor-league levels. It's unclear how the Milwaukee Brewers plan to use Gasser down the stretch or in the postseason.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Called up, will start Sunday
The Milwaukee Brewers recalled Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville, and he'll start Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.Gasser will make his first big-league appearance Sunday since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024. The 26-year-old was optioned to Nashville on Aug. 30 after being activated from the 60-day injured list, and he's mostly been working as a multi-inning reliever for the affiliate. Over 10 appearances with Nashville on the season, Gasser has covered 32 innings while compiling a 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB. The right-hander will be taking the hill Sunday on three days' rest after tossing 2.2 innings for Nashville on Wednesday, so he likely won't work deep enough into the contest to qualify for a win.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Milwaukee Brewers reinstated Robert Gasser (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville.Gasser has spent the entire season working his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent last June. He's made nine starts in the minors since beginning his rehab assignment in July, posting a 3.28 ERA and 1.26 WHIP through 24.2 innings between three levels. Now fully healthy, the 26-year-old lefty will fall victim to the logjam in Milwaukee's rotation and remain in Triple-A. However, he could still return to the majors during the final month of the year to make a spot start or work out of the bullpen.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Completes eighth rehab start
Robert Gasser (elbow) struck out four batters and allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks across 4.2 innings in a rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Nashville.Gasser has now made eight starts in the minors since beginning his rehab assignment July 19 in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Though pitchers are typically allotted just 30 days of rehab time in the minors while on the injured list, pitchers like Gasser who are returning from Tommy John surgery are eligible for up to three consecutive 10-day extensions, and the Milwaukee Brewers appear to have taken advantage of that rule to give the right-hander some additional ramp-up time. Since shifting his assignment to Nashville on Aug. 8, Gasser has turned in a 1.98 ERA over 13.2 innings in four starts, but his other ratios (1.32 WHIP, 12:6 K:BB) aren't quite as shiny. Milwaukee will likely continue to allow Gasser to work as a starter during his rehab assignment, but if he rejoins the big club over the final five weeks of the season, he would presumably work out of the bullpen, unless injuries test the organization's starting depth.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Shines in latest rehab start
Robert Gasser (elbow) struck out two batters while scattering one hit and two walks over four scoreless innings in his most recent rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Nashville. The 26-year-old lefty is seemingly approaching the finish line in his recovery from June 2024 Tommy John surgery. Over three starts since his rehab assignment was shifted to Nashville, Gasser has turned in a 1.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB in nine innings. With his 30-day rehab window coming to an end, the Milwaukee Brewers could choose to activate him from the 60-day injured list and have him start or serve as a bulk reliever Sunday against the Giants in an effort to build in an extra day of rest for the team's current rotation members.

Robert Gasser (elbow) has been sent to Triple-A Nashville to continue his rehab assignment, the Milwaukee Brewers announced Friday.Gasser has made four rehab appearances over the last few weeks, allowing two runs in six innings. He'll continue his assignment at Triple-A, seemingly the last step of his long recovery from Tommy John surgery. Brewers' Robert Gasser: Nearing rehab assignment
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Friday that Robert Gasser (elbow) has begun throwing live batting practice and could begin a minor-league rehab assignment "soon," MLB.com reports.Gasser has been on the shelf all season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent June 24, 2024. Though the left-hander is seemingly nearing the finish line in the rehab process, he'll likely continue to build up the volume and intensity of his live BP sessions over at least the next couple of weeks before heading out on a rehab assignment at some point after the All-Star break. Gasser is likely to require close to the full 30-day rehab window to get stretched back out and hone his command post-surgery, so he shouldn't be expected to return from the 60-day injured list until some point in August and September. The Brewers have ample rotation depth on hand at the big-league level, so any contributions that Gasser makes for Milwaukee in 2025 could come as a reliever.
