Miguel Vargas 3B | CHW
Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Not in Friday's lineup
Vargas is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Dodgers are giving Mookie Betts a start at second base, which means Vargas will begin this one on the bench. The rookie infielder has just a .570 OPS in June and has seen his playing time dip as a result.

Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Nursing tight hamstring
Kim is dealing with a tight left hamstring, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The issue explains why he's not in the Padres' lineup Friday in Cincinnati, although the team indicated his day off was precautionary, so Kim will likely avoid the injured list. Rougned Odor is playing second base Friday.

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Taking seat Friday
Kim is absent from the lineup for Friday's tilt in Cincinnati.
Reds starter Graham Ashcraft has had a more difficult time against right-handed batters in his two seasons, although his splits are pretty even in 2023 (and bad against both righties and lefties). The Padres will go with the left-handed hitting Rougned Odor at second base Friday as Kim gets some rest.

Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Launches ninth homer
Kim went 2-for-3 with a homer, a double and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Pirates.
Kim put the Padres on the board with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second before launching a solo shot in the fourth to make it a 4-0 lead. It was the second baseman's fourth home run in his last seven games while he's also recorded three multi-hit games over that stretch to go along with nine RBI and six runs scored.

Brice Turang 2B | MIL
Brewers' Brice Turang: Returns to majors
Milwaukee recalled Turang from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
Turang made the Opening Day roster out of Brewers camp this spring but got demoted to the minors in early June after slashing just .205/.254/.307 across his first 177 major-league plate appearances. He then put up a .927 OPS with three homers and two steals in 15 games at Triple-A to push his way back to the bigs. The 23-year-old has good speed and a bit of power, though he might not play regularly enough to offer mixed-league fantasy appeal.

Luis Urias 2B | TOR
Brewers' Luis Urias: Optioned to Nashville
Milwaukee optioned Urias to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
Urias missed all of April and May due to a severe hamstring strain and has not been able to get it going here in June, so he'll head to the minors to face some lesser competition. Brice Turang is returning to the Brewers in a corresponding roster move.

Yonny Hernandez 2B | NYM
Dodgers' Yonny Hernandez: Drives home three Wednesday
Hernandez went 1-for-3 with three RBI in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.
Hernandez notched his first runs batted in of the campaign with a two-run single in the fourth inning and added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The 25-year-old is up with the Dodgers as a fill-in for utility man Chris Taylor, who is on the injured list with a knee injury. Wednesday was Hernandez's first appearance in a game since he was called up Sunday, and he may see infrequent opportunities while he's with the big club.

Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM
Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Back in lineup Thursday
Bae will start at second base and bat seventh in Thursday's game against the Padres.
Bae was on the bench for two of the Pirates' last four games and is slashing a miserable .150/.232/.167 thus far in June, putting his status as an everyday player on notice. If there's a saving grace for Bae, it's that fellow middle infielder Tucupita Marcano has performed similarly poor in June (.493 OPS), which has resulted in recent call-up Nick Gonzales entering the lineup in place of Marcano for three straight games. Even if Marcano is the odd man out of the three for the time being, Bae could eventually lose reps to Rodolfo Castro at the keystone if another recent call-up in Jared Triolo ends up serving as the primary replacement at third base for the injured Ke'Bryan Hayes (back).
