Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said prior to Tuesday's game against the Rockies that Vargas is dealing with soreness in his right thumb, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.

Roberts said that Vargas can swing the bat, but he's feeling discomfort when throwing the baseball. The rookie infielder is out of the lineup Tuesday, and with the Dodgers having a day off on Wednesday, he'll be re-evaluated before Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Vargas (thumb) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Rockies, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Vargas was hit in his right thumb Monday, and while he was able to stay in the game, the Dodgers will give the 23-year-old at least a day off to recover. Mookie Betts starts at second base, and Jason Heyward will hit ninth and play right field.

Gorman is out of the lineup Tuesday against Atlanta.

The lefty-hitting Gorman is off to a rocking start this season, but Juan Yepez will take a turn at designated hitter Tuesday with Atlanta throwing left-hander Dylan Dodd.

Donovan is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup Tuesday against Atlanta.

St. Louis will go righty-heavy in this one with Atlanta throwing left-hander Dylan Dodd. Taylor Motter is playing second base and hitting ninth.

Garcia is not in the Nationals' starting lineup Tuesday against the Rays.

Michael Chavis will play second base and bat sixth versus the Rays and left-hander Josh Fleming while Lane Thomas leads off. Garcia has gone 1-for-14 (.071) to open the 2023 regular season.

Albies went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's win over the Cardinals.

Atlanta homered three times in the first two innings off Jake Woodford, with Albies hitting a rainbow that just carried over the wall in right field. It was the first long ball of 2023 for the switch-hitting second baseman, but he's enjoyed a solid start at the plate by going 5-for-16 (.313) through four games.

Kim went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-4 victory over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Kim failed to reach base his first three times to the plate, but he got another chance in the ninth inning after David Dahl tied the score with a pinch-hit homer. Kim then played the hero, slugging a walkoff solo shot to left field. The homer accounted for Kim's first RBI of the season, though he's reached base efficiently so far, collecting five hits (including two doubles) and a walk through 14 plate appearances.

Vargas was hit by a pitch on his right thumb Monday, but he stayed in the game and is said to be fine, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. "We'll get it looked at tomorrow," manager Dave Roberts said after the game. "He said it was sore, but full range of motion and strength. So hopefully [Tuesday] he comes in feeling good. He was adamant about staying in the game [Monday]."

A 92-mph fastball from Connor Seabold hit Vargas in the hand in the bottom of the seventh inning, and while Vargas appeared to be in significant pain initially, he shook it off and took his position in the field the next half inning. The Dodgers are off Wednesday and could always give him a couple days if there's swelling in the thumb. Vargas has already drawn nine walks this season, the most in franchise history through the first five games of a season, per Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com.

Villar went 2-for-4 with two homers and five RBI in Monday's 12-3 win over the White Sox.

Villar and the Giants went deep seven times in the blowout win; one short of the team record. One of those blasts was a grand slam in the ninth, and it cemented the rout by making it an 11-3 game. He also hit a solo shot off Michael Kopech which was one of five homers that San Francisco hit off the right-hander. Over four games, Villar now has slashed .286/.333/.714 with the majority of the production coming in Monday's blowout.

Estrada was pulled from Monday's game versus the White Sox after fouling a ball off his left leg, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The Giants were up big at the time, so this could be just them being extra cautious. Estrada had a home run, a stolen base and reached three times before exiting Monday.
