Marlins' Jose Devers: Suffers hand injury

Devers exited Friday's game against the Phillies with an apparent hand injury, MLB.com reports.

Playing first base for the first time in his career in a blowout loss, Devers was trying to field an errant throw from Connor Norby in the eighth inning and collided with Johan Rojas in the process. The severity of the issue is not currently clear.

  • Braves' Whit Merrifield: Early exit Friday

Merrifield exited Friday's game against the Blue Jays after fouling a ball off his left foot, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Merrifield had just returned to the lineup following a two-game absence after being hit in the head by a pitch. He suffered more bad luck Friday, but the severity of the new injury is unclear.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Exits after HBP

McNeil exited Friday's game against the Reds after being hit in the wrist by a pitch, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

McNeil was plunked in the fifth inning and remained in the game for the top of the sixth frame. However, Harrison Bader took McNeil's spot as a pinch hitter the next time through the order. After the game, the Mets announced that McNeil had suffered a right wrist contusion and will undergo imaging Saturday.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | TB

Giants' Brett Wisely: Not starting Friday

Wisely is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Out Friday with finger injury

Lowe is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles with ligament inflammation on both sides of his middle finger, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

The Rays are trying to get the inflammation to "calm down," per manager Kevin Cash, but right now they're unsure how long it's going to take before Lowe can return to action. The second baseman had his finger wrapped prior to Friday's game and will be sent for further evaluation. Jose Caballero is starting at second base Friday against right-hander Dean Kremer, with Taylor Walls at shortstop.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Struggling to hit from left side

Manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Albies (wrist) is having some issues with his left-handed swing, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The switch hitter isn't having difficulty from the right side of the plate, but batting from the left side is presenting some problems as he recovers from a fractured left wrist. Albies is hoping to rejoin Atlanta in mid-September, but the swing issues could be a major hurdle in his rehab.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Not in Sunday's lineup

Gonzales is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals.

Gonzalez started the previous seven games but will hit the bench Friday after going 9-for-31 with two doubles and four RBI during that span. Alika Williams will take over at the keystone and bat ninth.

  • Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Sitting against Fried

Horwitz is not in Friday's lineup against Atlanta.

Horwitz has been playing pretty regularly at first base and designated hitter, but he'll head to the bench for the second time in as many games with the Jays facing back-to-back southpaws. Nathan Lukes enters the lineup in right field with George Springer starting at DH.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Activated from injured list

The Diamondbacks reinstated Marte (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Friday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 30-year-old landed on the injured list in mid-August due to an ankle sprain, but he's back with the Diamondbacks after a two-and-a-half-week absence. Marte has a .298/.370/.560 slash line with 30 homers through 116 games this season, and his return to the lineup will provide a major boost to Arizona's playoff push.
