Giants' Evan Longoria: RBI and run scored in return

Longoria (side) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, a walk and a run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Cubs.

Longoria missed two games with right side soreness. He knocked in Brandon Crawford for San Francisco's first run, then came around to score on a Steven Duggar home run. Longoria has maintained a solid .275/.363/.506 slash line with nine home runs, 30 RBI, 27 runs scored and a stolen base as a near-everyday option at third base.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Plates two runs

Machado went 1-for-3 with a home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Friday's win over the Mets.

Machado has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, and he also ended a 10-game homer drought with his first-inning blast, his seventh of the season. The star infielder also plated the other Padres run when he drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

    Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Slugs homer

Hayes went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 9-2 win over Miami.

In his second game back from a wrist injury, Hayes wasted little time in making an impact. He slugged a two-run homer in the first inning and added an RBI single during Pittsburgh's five-run rally in the sixth. The third baseman is 4-for-8 with a homer, a triple, three RBI and three runs scored in the last two games. He should be good to go for an everyday role, and the early returns are promising.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Speedy stretch continues

Segura went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 2-1 loss to Washington.

The 31-year-old led off the fourth inning with a single, stole second and scored on J.T. Realmuto's RBI single. Segura has found a groove lately -- he's on a five-game hitting streak, going 7-for-20 (.350) with four stolen bases and five runs scored in that span. For the season, the infielder is slashing .320/.364/.451 with three home runs, 12 RBI, 21 runs scored and six steals.

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Considered day-to-day

Muncy (ankle) is considered day-to-day following his early exit from Friday's win over Atlanta, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said after Friday's contest that Muncy "felt something not right" with his right ankle, and the infielder will be reevaluated Saturday to determine the extent of the issue. If the 30-year-old misses additional time, Albert Pujols could step in at first base.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Dealing with right ankle issue

Muncy exited Friday's game against Atlanta with right ankle pain, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury in the top of the fourth inning while he was trying to beat out a double play, and he was replaced by Matt Beaty at first base. It's not yet clear whether Muncy's injury will force him to miss additional time.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Exits with apparent injury

Muncy left Friday's game against Atlanta in the top of the fourth inning with an apparent injury, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Giants' Evan Longoria: Back in lineup

Longoria (side) is starting Friday's game against the Cubs, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Longoria left Monday's game due to right side soreness and was held out of the lineup each of the last two games. However, he'll play third base and bat fifth Friday.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

    Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Remains sidelined

McMahon (groin) will sit for the second straight game Friday against the Athletics, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The Rockies described McMahon's left groin strain as "very minor" when he was held out of the lineup Thursday, but it's evidently significant enough that he'll sit for a second straight game. Garrett Hampson will again handle second base in his absence.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Takes seat Thursday

Wisdom isn't starting Thursday's game against the Giants.

Wisdom had started each of the last four games and went 7-for-15 with three home runs, four RBI and five strikeouts during that time. Sergio Alcantara will start at third base and bat seventh.
