  • Padres' Manny Machado: Homers Wednesday

Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Padres' 5-1 defeat to the Braves on Wednesday.

It's been a slow start to the season for Machado, but he managed to check in with his fifth long ball of the season in this contest, touching up Max Fried with a fourth-inning solo blast for his team's only run on the day. It was his first time leaving the yard since April 12 and Machado is still slashing just .236/.323/.391 through his first 110 at-bats with the Padres. However, he can heat up in a hurry, so hopefully this is a sign he's set to get on track.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Late lineup addition

Muncy will start at first base and bat sixth against the Giants on Wednesday, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Muncy was originally stationed on the bench with Madison Bumgarner on the mound for the Giants, but makes his way into the starting nine with David Freese scratched with a sore ankle. Muncy has hit lefties quite well in limited opportunities this season with a .292/.370/.708 slash line and two home runs in 27 plate appearances.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Heads to bench Wednesday

Muncy is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Giants.

Muncy will take a seat for Wednesday's series finale against the Giants with southpaw Madison Bumgarner starting for the opposition. David Freese is starting at first base and hitting fifth in his place.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Will be up Friday

Senzel will be be called up prior to this weekend's home series against the Giants, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Doug Gray of RedsMinorLeagues.com reported Wednesday that Senzel has been told he's getting the call, but Gray does not specify whether Senzel is expected to join the team before Friday. The Reds still need to officially select Senzel's contract and make a corresponding move. For now, those who have Senzel rostered should prepare to deploy him Friday in applicable situations. He figures to assume the role of everyday center fielder, taking over for Scott Schebler, who is hitting .135 with 26 strikeouts in 88 plate appearances. Senzel is hitting .257/.316/.371 with one home run in 35 at-bats with Triple-A Louisville since returning from an ankle injury.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Braves' Josh Donaldson: Remains on bench

Donaldson (calf) remains on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Donaldson was a late scratch Tuesday with right calf tightness and will sit for at least one more game. Johan Camargo starts at third for the second straight game.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Stays hot after earning honor

Escobar went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Yankees.

Fresh off being named the NL's Player of the Week, Escobar kept the good times rolling with his fourth three-hit performance over his last seven games. He's batting .517/.559/1.069 with three home runs, five doubles, a triple, eight RBI and nine runs scored during that stretch.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Braves' Josh Donaldson: Scratched with right calf problem

Donaldson was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres with right calf tightness, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

Donaldson's left calf was the one that kept him out of action for much of 2018, so this news isn't quite as worrisome as it may initially seem. The Braves are calling his removal precautionary and are considering him day-to-day. Johan Camargo is in line for a starting role until Donaldson returns.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Starting at short

Machado is starting at shortstop for Tuesday's tilt against the Braves.

With Fernando Tatis Jr. on the injured list with a hamstring injury, Machado gets the nod at shortstop for this contest. Machado could find himself manning the position frequently while the Padres' star rookie is out.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Heads to IL

Rendon (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Rendon's elbow hasn't improved as much as the Nationals would've hoped, so he'll require a trip to the injured list. The move is retroactive to Saturday, so Rendon will be eligible to come off the shelf beginning May 7. In a corresponding move, Dan Jennings' contract was selected from Double-A Harrisburg.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Drives in three off bench

Longoria went 1-for-2 with a three-run double in Monday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers.

Much to the chagrin of fantasy managers who kept him active this week, Longoria was on the bench for the second day in a row, but he at least made the most of his seventh-inning pinch-hitting opportunity. With two outs and the bases juiced, Longoria laced a double to left field off Dylan Floro to plate the Giants' only runs of the night. Pablo Sandoval drew the start at third base but was lifted after experiencing knee inflammation, so Longoria should be on track to re-enter the lineup Tuesday.
