Moncada went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Royals.

He got Chicago's offense rolling with a first-inning shot off Glenn Sparkman. Moncada hadn't gone yard since May 13, but he now has 10 homers and 34 RBI on the year to go along with a solid .277/.332/.488 slash line through 54 games.

Muncy went 2-for-5 with a home run, double and another run scored in Wednesday's 9-8 win over the Mets.

Muncy and Joc Pederson went back-to-back with solo home runs off Edwin Diaz in the ninth inning as the Dodgers rallied from an 8-5 deficit for the win. The 28-year-old has become quite the everyday player for the Dodgers this year, batting .269/.363/.505 with 11 home runs, 32 RBI, 32 runs scored and three stolen bases.

Riley went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 14-4 loss to the Nationals.

His seventh-inning shot didn't make much of a difference to the final outcome -- Atlanta was already down 14-0 at the time -- but it did give Riley a stunning seven homers and 20 RBI through his first 14 big-league games, to go along with a .375/.407/.786 slash line. Pitchers will figure out the 22-year-old eventually, but he's quickly establishing himself as a fixture in the team's lineup.

Vargas went 2-for-2 with three walks and a pair of singles in Wednesday's loss at Coors Field.

Vargas hadn't earned a free pass all season but changed that with a trio of walks at Coors Field, showing impressive awareness of the strike zone. He also tacked on two singles to successfully reach base all five times for the second time this week. Unfortunately, he did not record any RBI or runs. Without a consistent spot in the lineup, it's hard to see much upside here. The 27-year-old is batting .273/.300/.390 with two home runs through 77 plate appearances.

Davis is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Davis will take a seat after starting six of the last seven games for the Mets, slashing just .160/.222/.320 with a homer and two RBI in those contests. In his place, Dominic Smith is starting in left field and hitting second.

An X-ray on Suarez's left hand came back negative, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Suarez took a pitch off his hand during the eighth inning Wednesday, but initial tests have cleared the third baseman of any structural damage. This is certainly encouraging news for Suarez, who broke his thumb after getting hit by a pitch last season. He'll likely be further evaluated during the team's off day Thursday before his status for Friday's series opener against the Nationals is determined.

Suarez was removed from Wednesday's game against the Pirates after getting hit by a pitch in the eighth inning, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Tyler Mahle came on to pinch run for Suarez, who was 0-for-2 with a walk before the hit by pitch. The Reds were losing by seven at the time of the incident, so it's possible they were simply playing it safe with an off day on the docket Thursday. More should be known once Suarez is further evaluated in the coming days.

Longoria is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Longoria is hitting just .179 over the past 10 games, so he'll give way to Pablo Sandoval at the hot corner for Wednesday's contest as he looks to clear his head.

Machado went 1-for-4 with a base hit, a walk, an RBI and a run Tuesday in the Padres' 5-4 loss to the Yankees.

Machado has now put together an eight-game hitting streak and has reached base in all but one of his last 20 starts. While there's something to be said about that sort of consistency, Machado has provided little during that 20-game stretch beyond a high average (.319) and on-base percentage (.400). Only five of his 23 hits in that span have gone for extra bases, while the many slumping bats surrounding him in the lineup have limited him to eight RBI and seven runs. Machado will look to keep the streak going in Wednesday's series finale, as he'll start at shortstop and bat third against Yankees southpaw James Paxton.

Ramirez went 2-for-3 with two walks and two stolen bases in a 7-5 victory against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

The two-hit night brought his average back above the Mendoza Line. Sitting with just a .609 OPS, Ramirez has been a major disappointment, but despite a .308 on-base percentage, he's still managed to swipe 14 bags this year, second most in the American League. Ramirez's struggles at the plate date back to last year. Since Aug. 31, 2018, Ramirez is batting .185 in 303 at-bats, including the postseason. He does have hits in five of his last six games, so maybe he's pulling out of it, but right now, Ramirez is in the midst of the biggest slump of his career. Overall, he is batting .204 with four home runs, 15 RBI and 17 runs in 196 at-bats this season.
