  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: On bench again

Mejia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mejia will take a seat for the second game in a row while Christian Bethancourt gets another turn behind the plate. The two backstops may be moving into a timeshare at the position after Mejia went 0-for-12 across his last three starts.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Snaps power drought in win

Haase went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three total RBI in an 11-2 win against Texas on Saturday.

Haase crushed a 428-foot homer to left field in the ninth inning to add to an already substantial Detroit lead. The slugger had gone 24 games since his last long ball, and he hit a paltry .185 while striking out 40 percent of the time during the drought. Haase slugged 22 homers over 98 games last season but is well below that pace with nine home runs through 85 contests in 2022.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Not in Saturday's lineup

Hedges will sit Saturday against the Mariners.

Hedges has three hits over his last two games, equalling the number he managed over his previous 10 contests. Luke Maile will start behind the plate, catching for Zach Plesac.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Not starting Saturday

Trevino (foot) will sit Saturday against the Athletics.

Trevino left late in Friday's game after a pitch hit his foot. His X-rays were negative, but he'll rest for at least one game, with Kyle Higashioka taking over behind the plate.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Out of lineup

Raleigh will be on the bench Saturday against Cleveland.

Raleigh sits after starting four straight games, a stretch in which he went 0-for-13 at the plate. Curt Casali will start behind the plate Saturday.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Twins' Gary Sanchez: Retreats to bench Saturday

Sanchez isn't starting Saturday against the Giants.

Sanchez is getting a day off after he went 2-for-7 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBI over the last two games. Sandy Leon will take over behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Resting Saturday

Maldonado isn't starting Saturday against the Orioles.

Maldonado is out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games after he went 0-for-2 during Friday's loss to Baltimore. Christian Vazquez will start behind the plate and bat sixth.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Riding pine Saturday

Mejia isn't starting Saturday against the Red Sox, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Mejia went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Friday against Boston and will head to the bench for the second time in the last three games. Christian Bethancourt is starting behind the plate and batting sixth.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Twins' Gary Sanchez: Hits 12th home run

Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 9-0 win over the Giants on Friday.

Sanchez joined in on the Twins' offensive onslaught off beleaguered Giants starter Alex Wood with a two-run homer of his own. It was Sanchez's 12th long ball of the season and he picked up his 44th RBI with the hit. Sanchez is slashing .216/.282/.394 over 315 at-bats in his first season in Minnesota.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

    Yankees' Jose Trevino: X-rays negative

Trevino underwent X-rays on his foot Friday that came back negative, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Trevino was replaced defensively in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday after being hit by a pitch in the top of the eighth, but he isn't believed to be dealing with any structural damage in his right foot. He should be considered day-to-day for now, while Kyle Higashioka will likely see additional looks behind the plate if Trevino is forced to miss time.
