  • Travis d'Arnaud experiences discomfort while running

Mets catcher prospect Travis d'Arnaud, who is rehabbing a broken left foot, had discomfort while running on flat ground, according to ESPN. However, it was to be expected, according to Mets' personnel.

He has been sidelined for Triple-A Las Vegas since mid-April, delaying his MLB debut.

  • Devin Mesoraco plays hero in extra innings

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was the hero of Saturday's 6-4 win over the Rangers, hitting a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning. The home run, which was his fourth of the season, was Mesoraco's only hit in five at-bats.

Mesoraco has hit .238/.313/.371 in 143 at-bats but just .208/.300/.325 in 77 at-bats on the road.

  • Yasmani Grandal doubles in loss

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal went 1 for 3 with his fourth double of the season and scored his team's only run in a 6-1 loss to the Dodgers Saturday. He has doubled in back-to-back games after recording just two doubles in his first 56 at-bats.

Grandal has hit .210/.333/.323 with one home run and eight RBI in 62 at-bats since rejoining the team in late May.

  • Travis d'Arnaud running in water

Mets catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud has been running in a rehabilitation pool that reduces the amount of weight being placed on his fractured left foot, assistant general manager John Ricco told ESPN on Friday.

d'Arnaud fractured his left foot in mid-April and shed his walking boot last week. He was hitting .250/.429/.472 in 36 at-bats at Triple-A Las Vegas before the injury.

  • Kevin Plawecki promoted to high Class A

Mets catcher prospect Kevin Plawecki was promoted from low Class A Savannah to high Class A St. Lucie Thursday, according to ESPN. Plawecki hit .314 with a .494 slugging percentage, .884 OPS, six home runs, 24 doubles and 43 RBI in 65 games for Savannah.

However, Plawecki's numbers gradually declined after a torrid April. He hit .391 with four homers, 12 doubles and 20 RBI in 23 April games. He then hit .300 with two homers, 10 doubles and 19 RBI in 29 May games. Finally, he hit .208 with no homers, two doubles and four RBI in 13 June games.

  • Yasmani Grandal finally goes deep

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal hit his first home run of 2013 in Saturday's win over Arizona.

Grandal finished 1 for 2 with a walk and the three-run home run. It's been a rough start for Grandal since his return from a PED suspension in late May. His OBP is over .300 for the first time this season, and even with Saturday's solid game, his OPS still sits at a poor .601. On the bright side, he has more walks than strikeouts, perhaps a sign it's just a matter of time until the hits fall in.

  • Martin Maldonado pops one out Friday

Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado went deep Friday during a 4-3 loss at Cincinnati. Maldonado hit his third HR of the season in the eighth inning off starter Bronson Arroyo.

Maldonado, not an everyday player, has hits in his last two games. That said, he's still just 2 for 12 (.167) in June over six games and three starts. He does have two homers and three RBI for the month to this point.
