Plawecki was removed from Tuesday's game against the Astros with a jaw contusion, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

The 30-year-old suffered the jaw bruise when he was struck by a foul tip during the fourth inning. Plawecki should be considered day-to-day, while Christian Vazquez has taken over behind the plate for the Red Sox.

Plawecki exited Tuesday's game against the Astros after being hit in the mask by a foul tip, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The 30-year-old likely will be evaluated for a concussion after being struck by the foul tip during the fourth inning. Plawecki hit a single in his lone plate appearance before being forced to exit. Christian Vazquez has taken over behind the plate, and Boston will need to add another catcher to the big-league roster if a concussion is confirmed.

Manager Rocco Baldelli said Tuesday that Garver (groin) likely won't ramp us his activity within the next two weeks, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Garver underwent surgery for a groin contusion June 2 and was placed on the 10-day injured list. Based on Baldelli's comments, the catcher won't be able to do many, if any, baseball activities until late June. Considering that timeline, and the fact that he's likely to require a rehab assignment before returning to Minnesota, an early July activation from the injured list seems like the best-case scenario at this point for the backstop.

Manager Dave Roberts said Barnes' ankle is feeling better, and the catcher is expected to rejoin the lineup Thursday in Pittsburgh, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 31-year-old was deemed healthy by Roberts after exiting Saturday's game with a mild ankle sprain, but the injury has apparently lingered over the past couple days. The fact the Dodgers haven't added another catcher to the roster indicates the issue isn't a serious concern, so Barnes could be available off the bench Tuesday and Wednesday.

McGuire is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

McGuire had been splitting time behind the plate with Danny Jansen, who landed on the injured list with a hamstring strain Tuesday. The newly promoted Riley Adams will start Tuesday in his big-league debut. McGuire bats left-handed while Adams hits right-handed, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Adams start against southpaws -- like Tuesday's starter for the White Sox, Carlos Rodon -- going forward.

Jansen landed on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain Tuesday.

Jansen left Sunday's game against the Astros with the injury. It was originally described as "mild" but was evidently serious enough to sideline him for at least 10 days. Whether he'll miss much time beyond that remains to be seen. Riley Adams was recalled in a corresponding move and will split time behind the plate with Reese McGuire.

Adams was recalled by the Blue Jays on Tuesday and will make his big-league debut against the White Sox.

Adams spent three days on the major-league roster in early May but didn't get into a game. He'll be involved right away this time around, catching and batting ninth. Adams will split time behind the plate with Reese McGuire for now, as Danny Jansen (hamstring) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move, while Alejandro Kirk is nowhere close to returning from his hip injury. He's hit fairly well in Triple-A this year, putting together a .250/.410/.600 batting line.

Perez (finger) had the pin removed from his finger and started throwing Tuesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

The news has no immediate impact on Perez's return timeline, but it's positive news nonetheless for the veteran catcher, who hasn't played since May 3. Once activated, Perez will likely slot in as Cleveland's top catching option ahead of Austin Hedges and Rene Rivera.

Caratini is on the bench Tuesday against the Cubs, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com of reports.

He gets a day off following a solid, 2-for-3 performance Monday. Caratini's double against the Cubs was just his third extra-base hit in his last 18 games, and he's slugging a mere .357 on the season. Webster Rivas starts behind the dish and bats eighth Tuesday.

Gomes (hamstring) is batting sixth and catching Tuesday against the Rays.

The veteran catcher is back in the lineup after missing four consecutive games with right hamstring tightness. Hitting .258 with five homers, Gomes has been a reliable bat near the bottom of Washington's order this season.
