Sanchez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Sanchez is just 3-for-16 to begin the month of August, so manager Joe Girardi decided it was time for a day off. Austin Romine will get the start behind the plate in Sanchez's place, batting ninth.

Gomes (shoulder) collected a pair of hits Monday and could see time at catcher over the weekend as his rehab assignment continues, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Gomes will resume his rehab as the DH for Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday as he works his way back towards a possible return to the Indians on Sept. 16.

D'Arnaud is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN.com.

D'Arnaud will get the day off Wednesday with the Mets playing a day game following a night game. Rene Rivera will get the start behind the plate in d'Arnaud's place.

Perez (wrist) is not expected to play Wednesday, the Kansas City Star's Rustin Dodd reports.

Perez left Tuesday's game with what is being labeled a right wrist contusion after he was hit on the wrist by a pitch. However, manager Ned Yost admitted that it "wasn't a good sound" when Perez was hit by the pitch, and Yost was unsure about the severity of the injury going forward. That certainly makes it sound as though Perez could have further tests on the wrist, and he could end up missing more time than players typically miss with a contusion. The Royals are off Thursday, so Perez will be out at least until the weekend series against the White Sox. Drew Butera and Tony Cruz will be the two options behind the plate while Perez is out.

Perez was diagnosed with a right wrist contusion after getting hit by a pitch in Tuesday's game, the Kansas City Star's Rustin Dodd reports.

He was hit on the wrist by a pitch and forced to exit Tuesday's game. Fortunately, tests were negative on the wrist, so Perez should be considered day-to-day with the contusion. Of course, sometimes these things are labeled as bruises/contusions on the night of the injury, and then further tests reveal a fracture, so it's worth continuing to monitor his status in advance of Wednesday's game in Minnesota.

According to Dodd, the sound when the ball hit Perez's arm suggests the injury was at least very painful, and could have resulted in a fracture. Terrance Gore came in to pinch run and Perez's status should be updated when the team comments on the nature of the injury.

Contreras is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Manager Joe Maddon has started to get creative with his catchers, as Miguel Montero will start for the second straight day Tuesday on the heels of Contreras getting two straight starts and David Ross starting the two games prior to that. It remains to be seen what Maddon's plans for the catcher position will be moving forward, but he figures to keep using all three players.

Rupp is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins.

This seems to be another routine day off for Rupp, although it is notable to point out that it's the third time since August 31 that he'll be taking a seat on the bench. A.J. Ellis will be taking his place behind the dish against Miami for the evening.

Gomes (shoulder) will continue his rehab at Double-A Akron on Monday before possibly joining Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday and hopes to begin catching soon, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The Indians will likely want Gomes to see some game action behind the plate during his rehab program but that will be dictated by how long Triple-A Columbus can advance in the playoffs. He's eligible to return from the DL on September 16.

Realmuto went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's loss to the Phillies.

Realmuto has been a bright spot for the Marlins this season, hitting .311 with nine home runs and 11 stolen bases. The backstop has been very consistent this year, hitting at least .284 in every month. Just 25, Realmuto should continue to produce through September and into 2017.
