Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Collects three hits Tuesday
Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics.
Even with the three hits, Cabrera is still hitting just .249. The 34-year-old has only batted below .300 in a season once in his career, and that was in 2008 when he posted a .292 mark. Cabrera has dealt with a variety of injuries this year, so he could bounce back in 2018 with better health. However, at this stage in his career, it wouldn't be too surprising if Cabrera's overall production continued to decline.

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: In Monday's lineup
Cabrera (back) is in the lineup Monday against the A's.
After missing Sunday's outing due to a tight back, Cabrera is in the lineup Monday. He'll slot in at the DH spot and hit third against Jharel Cotton and the A's. Over his last seven games, Cabrera has gone just 5-for-24 (.208) and struck out seven times.

Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Indians' Michael Brantley: May miss rest of season
Team president Chris Antonetti said there is still no clarity on whether Michael Brantley (ankle) will return this season, The Associated Press reports.
Brantley was sidelined on Aug. 9 with a sprained ankle, and recovery has moved slower than expected. Though the injury was initially thought to be minor, it's become apparent the outfielder's ailment is a more serious than what was originally diagnosed. Until Brantley is ready to return, Austin Jackson and Brandon Guyer will continue splitting the extra at-bats.

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Out of Sunday lineup
Cabrera (back) is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox.

Efren Navarro will start a first base and hit fifth with Cabrera out.

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Exits with back tightness
Cabrera was prematurely lifted from Saturday's game against the White Sox with lower-back tightness, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Cabrera has dealt with back discomfort all season, and it cropped up again Saturday. He was 0-for-2 and looked uncomfortable before John Hicks replaced him at first base at the start of the fifth inning. He's listed as day-to-day.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Hits walk-off home run
Buxton went 2-for-4 with his first career walk-off home run, a solo shot in the bottom of the 10th inning, in Thursday's win over Toronto.
Buxton has 10 home runs in his last 31 games and is hitting .322 over that span. He's finishing the year strong and having a remarkable turnaround after hitting just .216 with five home runs and a .594 OPS in the first half of the season.

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Connects for 16th home run
Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a home run in Thursday's loss to the White Sox.
The 34-year-old's sudden and dramatic decline has made for one of the most surprising stories of the baseball season. He's still batting just .249/.331/.405 with 16 homers and 60 RBI after Thursday's output, but he's Miguel Cabrera and most owners don't have a better alternative. Hopefully he'll come on strong over the final couple weeks.

Mark Canha LF | TEX
Athletics' Mark Canha: Two doubles Thursday
Canha went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles Thursday in Boston.
Both of Canha's doubles came with a man on first base, but the runner was held at third on both occasions. He's still sitting at just 10 runs and 11 RBI in 45 games this season, and is unlikely to move out of the bottom third of the batting order.

Brad Miller DH | SD
Rays' Brad Miller: Takes seat vs. lefty Wednesday
Miller is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Miller has been a regular on the bench against left-handed pitching all season, so it's no surprise he'll take a seat with southpaw Jaime Garcia on the bump for the Yankees in the series finale. Danny Espinosa checks in for Miller at second base, batting ninth.
