Sanchez was scratched from the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers due to left calf tightness, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The veteran slugger was penciled in as Milwaukee's designated hitter, but he'll instead hit the bench due to the injury. Sanchez should be considered day-to-day heading into Wednesday's series finale versus Texas, which is followed by a team day off Thursday. Rhys Hoskins will now serve as the DH on Tuesday while Jake Bauers starts at first base.

Peralta isn't in the Padres' lineup for Tuesday's game against Washington.

Left-hander MacKenzie Gore will start on the mound for the Nationals, so the lefty-hitting Peralta will take a seat on the bench to begin Tuesday's contest. His absence will open up a spot for Bryce Johnson to start in right field while batting ninth.

Stewart could handle the strong side of a platoon in left field with Tyrone Taylor while Starling Marte (knee) is on the injured list, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

The Mets do have other options to replace Marte, including shifting Jeff McNeil to left and giving Jose Iglesias more time at second base, but some form of a Stewart-Taylor timeshare is the most likely scenario. Stewart has provided value at the plate against right-handers this season, slashing .204/.350/.372 with five homers over 140 plate appearances in that split, but Taylor is the better defensive outfielder.

Ohtani (elbow) played catch from 90 feet Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Ohtani is throwing from 90 feet for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last September. He continues to progress in his rehab with no issues, and he's certainly shown no ill effects at the plate as a result of his ongoing recovery from the elbow issue. The Dodgers haven't ruled out the possibility of Ohtani playing the outfield at some point in 2024, though that still seems like a long shot. He will continue to serve as the club's designated hitter, with an eye on resuming two-way duties in 2025.

The Nationals selected Ramirez's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Ramirez joined the Nationals on a minor-league deal June 15 and had to wait a little under two weeks before getting the call to the big club. Trey Lipscomb was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to open up a spot on the 26-man active roster for Ramirez, who will likely serve as a short-side platoon player during his time with Washington. Ramirez previously posted a .268/.284/.305 slash line in 169 plate appearances with the Rays before being cut earlier this season.

Ramirez joined the Nationals in San Diego and could be formally added to the active roster prior to Monday's series opener with the Padres, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Ramirez started the season with the Rays, slashing .268/.284/.305 before being released June 14. After signing with Washington, he appeared in seven games with Triple-A Rochester, going 9-for-24 with four RBI. The Nationals haven't yet confirmed that Ramirez has been called up to the big club, but more details on his status should arrive shortly before the 9:40 p.m. ET start time of Monday's game.

Carpenter will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter and No. 7 batter in Monday's game against Atlanta.

After he was excluded from the lineup for a stretch of six consecutive games from June 12 through 17 while the Cardinals faced four lefty starters and handed starts to Nolan Arenado and Masyn Winn at DH in the other two matchups with righties, Carpenter will now get his sixth start in a row. He's earned a more stable spot in the lineup against righties after going 6-for-16 with a double and a walk over the previous five games. The lefty-hitting Carpenter should continue to sit regularly versus lefties, however.

Burleson went 2-for-4 with two RBI singles, a run scored and two stolen bases during Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants.

Burleson generated multiple hits for the third consecutive contest, building on a two-homer effort Saturday with a pair of RBI on Sunday. After stealing just two bases in his first 67 games, Burleson has swiped three in the past two contests and took second base on both of his hits. The outfielder is 24-for-83 (.289) in June and ranks in the top 10 in MLB in both runs scored and homers during the month.

Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Angels while also drawing a walk.

Ohtani jumped on a hanging slider from Zach Plesac in the third inning and launched it 459 feet into the stands in right-center field for his 23rd home run of the season. The superstar slugger has now homered in three consecutive games and has collected at least one RBI in seven straight. Over that latter stretch, he's batting .481 (13-for-27) with six homers, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored.

Martini isn't in the Reds' lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Martini went 0-for-4 and struck out twice Saturday during his first game back from a hand injury, and he'll now take a seat for Sunday's series finale. His absence will open up a spot for Stuart Fairchild to start in center field while batting ninth.
