  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Tallies hit in return to lineup

Dickerson (oblique) started in left field and went 1-for-4 in Wednesday's 11-3 win over the Red Sox.

Dickerson made his first start since Sept. 3 due to an ongoing battle with back issues. The 29-year-old was removed for a pinch runner in the eighth inning, but that appeared to be a strategic maneuver with no reports of any health setbacks. There is a strong chance Dickerson gets rested for Thursday's series finale in Boston with a southpaw scheduled to take the bump. In fact, three of the Giants' next four projected opposing starters are of the left-handed variety, so fantasy owners in need of volume in the closing moments of the season may want to explore other options in the short term.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Held out Wednesday

Pederson is not in the lineup Wednesday for the second straight day.

Pederson will be held out of the lineup for the second straight day with the Dodgers facing a southpaw for the second time in as many nights. The Dodgers have a team off day Thursday, but Pederson should be back in the lineup Friday -- and all weekend -- with a string of right-handed pitchers lined up to start for the Rockies.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Remains out of lineup

Turner (ankle) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Turner was able to go through stretching exercises Wednesday, according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, but he is not ready to return to action just yet. The Dodgers will have a team off day Thursday, and there's a chance Turner could be back in the lineup when the club returns to action Friday night.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: First start in two weeks

Dickerson (oblique) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, according to Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News.

Dickerson has not started a game since Sept. 3 because of his oblique injury, but he is ready to get back in the lineup after pinch hitting in the Giants' last two games. Dickerson will man left field and hit cleanup Wednesday night.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Pops 17th homer

Belt went 1-for-6 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 7-6 victory over the Red Sox.

Belt got the Giants' offense rolling with his 17th home run of the year in the first inning of a game that would last 15 frames. The 31-year-old overcame his injury woes this season (146 games played), but that has been negated by career lows in batting average (.236) and slugging percentage (.411). That said, Belt has put together a nice little hot streak over his last 10 contests, slashing .342/.405/.632 with seven extra-base hits as he tries to finish the 2019 campaign on a strong note.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Pinch hits again

Dickerson (oblique) came off the bench to provide a sacrifice fly in his lone plate appearance against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Dickerson was held out of the starting lineup again despite serving as a pinch hitter in Sunday's contest and getting extra rest on the team's off day Monday. The back-to-back pinch-hit appearances could indicate that the 29-year-old is inching closer to playing a full nine, but everyday playing time may be out of the question with only two weeks left in the regular season and the Giants all but eliminated from playoff contention. Dickerson has slashed .288/.345/.523 (168 plate appearances) when healthy this year.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Doubtful to start Wednesday

Turner (ankle) is unlikely to start against the Rays on Wednesday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Turner has now missed eight straight games with a sore ankle, though he did indicate Tuesday that he is "getting better every day," per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. The decision to sit him out again Wednesday makes perfect sense for a team that has already wrapped up the National League West and has an off day Thursday. Chances are good that Turner will be back in the lineup Friday, though Los Angeles won't push the issue as they have plenty of time to get the 34-year-old back into the fold by the start of the postseason.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Receives night off

Ramirez isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Ramirez reached base twice in Monday's series opener, but he'll retreat to the bench for Tuesday's clash. Austin Dean is set to man left field and hit eighth.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Benched vs. lefty

Pederson isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Pederson is situated on the bench for Tuesday's clash with lefty Blake Snell in line to make his return. Enrique Hernandez gets the nod in right field and will bat sixth.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Held out of starting nine

Turner (ankle) isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Turner will be held out for at least one more contest due to a sprained left ankle. There was hope that he would return to the starting lineup Tuesday, but skipper Dave Roberts stated after Sunday's victory that his starting third baseman's ankle was still sore. Chris Taylor draws the start at third base and will bat third.
