Alvarez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Alvarez will get a day to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-10 with two walks and four strikeouts over his last three games. His absence will move Yainer Diaz into the DH spot, giving Christian Vazquez a start behind the dish.

Ingle started at designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Friday's 3-1 loss to Seattle.

Ingle had his contract selected from Triple-A Columbus on Friday and made his MLB debut. The Guardians need an offensive infusion and hope Ingle can help turn the tide. Over 51 games at Columbus, he slashed .284/.416/.551 with nine doubles, 12 home runs, 41 RBI and 41 walks with 50 strikeouts. Ingle came up through the system as a catcher, but the Guardians are expected to work him in at other positions, including DH and outfield.

Smith batted eighth and went 0-for-4 in Friday's 6-1 loss to Tampa Bay.

Smith extended a hitless run to 14 at-bats and hasn't got the bat working since coming off the injured list in late May. He's batting just .154 (8-for-52) with one home run and five RBI while mostly batting fifth in the order.

Benintendi went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored Friday against the Royals.

Benintendi contributed to a 10-run third inning for the White Sox, tallying a double and coming around to score. He led off the following frame with his 10th home run of the season. Benintendi rarely gets starts against lefties, but he's still managed a very productive June by hitting .250 with six homers, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored across 20 games.

The Mets optioned Melendez to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Melendez had a hot first couple weeks with the Mets in producing a 1.024 OPS in his first 16 games, but he stumbled to a .123/.273/.222 batting line over his last 40 contests. Tyrone Taylor (hip) has returned from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Pederson went 2-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays.

Pederson finished an 11-pitch at-bat by sending an inside fastball from Kevin Gausman down the line in right field and over the fence to lead off the game. The blast extended the veteran slugger's hit streak to four games (8-for-16) and was his third homer in as many games.

Wagaman went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in an extra-inning loss to the Cubs on Thursday.

Wagaman didn't start the contest, but he was called upon to pinch hit for MJ Melendez with a runner on second base in the sixth inning. That substitution worked out well for New York, as Wagaman clubbed a two-run homer to left field to give the team its first runs of the game. The long ball was the second of the season for Wagaman, who has seen sporadic playing time while up with the big-league club. He's started just twice in the Mets' past eight contests.

Schwarber (back) will serve as the Phillies' designated hitter and bat second Thursday against the Nationals.

Schwarber missed back-to-back starts while dealing with lower-back tightness, but he was able to enter Wednesday's contest as a pinch hitter and drew a walk during his lone plate appearance. Now healthy enough to start, he'll look to remain hot after slashing .306/.425/.597 with seven homers through 20 games in June.

Soler went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in a 7-6, 10-inning victory against Baltimore on Wednesday.

Soler got the Angels off to a fast start with a two-run blast to left field in the first inning. Though he didn't log another hit in the game, the veteran outfielder reached twice more via walks. Soler returned Monday from a stint on the injured list, and he's gone 2-for-9 with a pair of homers, four RBI and a 3:5 BB:K across three games since his return. Overall, Soler is slashing .220/.305/.422 with 11 long balls, 37 RBI, 30 runs and no stolen bases through 61 contests on the campaign.

Canzone is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Pittsburgh.

Canzone returned to the lineup Wednesday following a one-day absence with a right hamstring injury, but he'll be back on the bench Thursday. He did not suffer any known setback Wednesday, so the Mariners are likely just giving Canzone a break for Thursday's matinee. Cal Raleigh is in the designated-hitter slot, and Mitch Garver will grab a start at catcher.
