Payamps (1-1) pitched three scoreless innings against Texas on Wednesday, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out five to earn the win.

Kansas City deployed seven pitchers in the bullpen game, with Payamps entering in the third inning behind opener Gabe Speier. Payamps handled the most innings among the Royals' pitchers, throwing 39 pitches (26 of which were strikes) over three frames to pick up the win. The right-hander has posted a 2.08 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB across 13 innings on the season.

Chapman earned the save after allowing one run on one hit during the ninth inning of Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jays. He had one strikeout and one walk.

The veteran lefty surrendered a leadoff double to Santiago Espinal, who advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly from George Springer, and he then retired the next two batters. It's the first run allowed by Chapman this season, but he remains a perfect 8-for-8 in save opportunities. Overall he has a 0.79 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB over 11.1 innings.

Heasley will start Thursday's game against the Rangers, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Heasley has made six starts at Triple-A Omaha to begin the year, and he's posted a 4.44 ERA, 30:6 K:BB and 0.96 WHIP in 26.1 innings. The right-hander made three starts for the Royals in 2021 and will be called up ahead of Thursday's matchup to make his 2022 debut.

The Twinsn="Minnesota Twins" data-type="SPORTS_OBJECT_TEAM" data-league-abbreviation="MLB" data-team-abbreviation="MIN">Twins selected Cano's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Megan Ryan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Cano has been productive in St. Paul early in the season, posting a 14:4 K:BB while tossing 12 scoreless frames over nine relief appearances. He hasn't yet made his major-league debut but will be available out of Minnesota's bullpen after Danny Coulombe (hip) was placed on the 15-day IL.

Coulombe was placed on the 15-day injured list with a hip impingement Wednesday, Megan Ryan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Coulombe was removed from Tuesday's matchup against the Astros with a left hip injury, and he'll be forced to spend time on the IL. It's not yet clear whether he's expected to miss more than the minimum of 15 days, but Yennier Cano was recalled to provide additional help in the bullpen.

The Yankees optioned Marinaccio to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Marinaccio didn't see any usage out of the bullpen following his call-up from Triple-A on Sunday. The Yankees haven't announced an immediate replacement for Marinaccio on the 26-man active roster, but the team now has an opening to bring aboard Luis Gil from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in advance of his scheduled spot start Thursday against the White Sox.

Trivino allowed an earned run on two hits, a walk and a hit by pitch across one inning during a win over the Tigers in the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday. He struck out one.

The right-hander labored through his one frame, firing 27 pitches overall and yielding a bases-loaded walk to Robbie Grossman that resulted in the Tigers' one run of the game. Trivino had given up five runs (four earned) over two-thirds of an inning back on May 3 in his return from the COVID-19 injured list, but he'd bounced back with a pair of scoreless efforts of one-third of an inning each before Tuesday's stumble.

Armstrong signed a minor-league contract with Tampa Bay on Wednesday and was assigned to Triple-A Durham, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Armstrong was on the open market for just under a week after he elected free agency May 4 upon clearing waivers when the Marlins designated him for assignment. The 31-year-old right-hander will be continuing his career in a familiar organization, as he spent the second half of the 2021 season in Tampa Bay after coming over in a mid-season trade with the Orioles. He had gotten off to a rough start over his seven relief appearances with Miami this season, giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits and three walks over 6.2 innings.

Speier is listed as the Royals' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game in Texas and is expected to serve as the opener in a bullpen day, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Speier has yet to allow a run over seven relief appearances this season but hasn't recorded more than six outs in any of those outings. The Royals are thus unlikely to keep him in the game more than one time through the order before turning the game over to their relief corps. Former starting pitcher Kris Bubic will be available out of the bullpen and hasn't been used since May 4, so he could be a logical candidate to pick up the bulk of the innings behind Speier.

The Mariners acquired Berroa from the Giants on Wednesday in exchange for utility man Donovan Walton.

The 22-year-old Berroa has made four starts at High-A Eugene this season, posting an 0.68 ERA and 16:6 K:BB across 13.1 innings. He'll likely report to the Mariners' High-A affiliate in Everett.
