Soto allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out two in his one inning of work Saturday, eking out his 13th save of the season in Detroit's 2-1 win over Cleveland.

Soto inherited a 2-0 lead to start the ninth but quickly saw that advantage halved when Wilson Ramos led the inning off with a solo homer. The collective blood pressure of the Detroit dugout rose again when the next batter, Owen Miller, dropped in a base hit. However, Soto recovered to strike out two of the final three batters he'd face to secure his 13th save. While this might not have been the most convincing outing, Soto hasn't blown a save since July 11.

Morgan (1-4) allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts through seven innings, taking the loss in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Detroit.

Morgan got a raw deal in this one. The rookie pitched well enough to win, but didn't get the run support to make that vision become a reality. The only damage against his line came on a Zack Short sacrifice fly in the second and an Akil Baddoo RBI base hit in the fifth. While the right-hander still has allowed multiple earned runs in all nine career starts, Saturday marked the first outing in which he didn't yield a home run. Seven innings is also the deepest Morgan has gone into a game in his career, and he needed just 88 pitches to do it. While the strikeouts weren't there, the 25-year-old has now strung together two quality starts since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Aug. 2.

Alexander (2-1) allowed four hits and struck out four over 5.1 scoreless innings, getting the win in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Cleveland.

Alexander needed this one. After allowing seven runs in his last two starts, the left-hander blanked Cleveland through 5.1 innings of ruthlessly efficient baseball. While Alexander couldn't eclipse his season high of four strikeouts, he didn't walk a batter and needed just 62 pitches to record 16 outs. He did exit the game in a two-on, one-out jam, but Michael Fulmer mopped it up to keep the 27-year-old's line spotless. If Alexander can continue to pitch like this, it would be a boon to a Tigers team short on starting pitching depth.

Ottavino worked a perfect inning and struck out one en route to his eighth save of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Ottavino picked up his eighth save of the season in dramatic fashion Saturday night, striking out Teoscar Hernandez to strand the tying run at third and end the game. This is the right-hander's first save since July 5. After a rough close to the month of July, Ottavino's first two outings in August have been much more fruitful. The Red Sox will need the 35-year-old to remain a reliable option if they want to keep up in the pennant race.

Cimber (2-3) allowed one unearned run on two hits in 0.2 innings of work, taking the loss in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to the Red Sox.

One day after Charlie Montoyo said Cimber could see more save chances, the Blue Jays' manager sent the right-hander out to begin the eighth inning in the final leg of Saturday's double-header. With ghost runner Franchy Cordero lurking behind him, Cimber gave up a base hit to Jonathan Arauz that cashed Cordero and gave Boston a lead they'd never relinquish. This is only the second run that the submariner has allowed in 15 appearances with the Blue Jays this season.

Rodriguez will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to start one of the doubleheader games Tuesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports

Rodriguez was optioned to the minors Wednesday after pitching six innings Monday. He has a 3.86 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 25.2 big-league innings this season.

Feyereisen (biceps) threw a successful bullpen session Saturday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

While it's not clear how many pitches Feyereisen threw in Saturday's throwing session, it's encouraging that he didn't encounter any issues in his return to mound work. The Rays' medical staff will monitor how the right-hander's injury responds in the coming days before determining the next step in his recovery.

Brasier (concussion) threw live batting practice Saturday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Brasier has been out for over two months after taking a comebacker to the head. Previous reports indicated he'd throw one more live batting practice session before embarking on a rehab assignment, so news of such a move should be coming soon.

Anderson (elbow) will pitch in a game for the Rays' rookie-league Florida Coast League affiliate Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Anderson threw a successful bullpen session Saturday, and the medical staff determined afterward that he's ready to ready to return to game action following a brief delay in his recovery due to COVID-related issues. The right-hander will likely need a few rehab appearances following his pause, but he's on track for a return to the major-league mound in mid-to-late August.

Rogers has elected to not undergo surgery on his left middle finger, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Rogers is likely still in line for an extended absence despite deciding to rehab with rest and recovery. The team expects to learn more in the coming days about the timeline for his potential return. Alex Colome has been the favorite for save chances in Minnesota with Rogers and Hansel Robles out of the picture.
