Barria was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

The righty, who has allowed seven earned runs in six innings this season, yields his roster spot to lefty Dillon Peters.

Peters' contract was selected Wednesday by the Angels.

Peters begins his first stint on the big-league roster in 2021 after pitching with the Angels in spring training. The lefty has pitched 73.2 big-league innings in 13 starts over the past two years. Peters replaces Jaime Barria, whom the Angels optioned Wednesday, on the roster.

Puk (biceps) will pitch an inning for Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The Athletics don't appear to be building Puk up for longer relief appearances, as his third rehab outing Thursday will be the same, one-inning length as the previous two. It's unclear whether Puk will require more rehab after Thursday or if he'll be ready for activation to the big-league roster.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Zimmermann will start Saturday's game against the Nationals, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

The rookie will re-enter the rotation as a replacement for long reliever Adam Plutko, who faltered in a spot start last weekend against the Yankees. After Plutko was pounded for four runs before exiting after one inning, Zimmermann excelled in mop-up duty, limiting the Bronx Bombers to one run on two hits and one walk while striking out six over 5.2 frames. The strong outing in relief was enough to earn Zimmermann another look in a starting role, but fantasy managers should temper expectations for the lefty. In his first six outings as a starter before being demoted to the minors, Zimmermann posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 6.6 K/9 across 30 innings.

Orioles general manager Mike Elias said Wednesday that Harvey (oblique) has checked out fine since he started pitching in simulated games in Florida last week, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Elias noted that Harvey's velocity has been up through his first two simulated games, a sign that the right-hander remains on track to be activated from the 60-day injured list when he's first eligible to return in late May, or soon thereafter. Harvey is expected to face hitters in a few more simulated games before reporting to a minor-league affiliate for a rehab assignment.

Peralta (1-0) was credited with the win Tuesday against Texas, allowing one hit and striking out one over one inning.

Starter Jameson Taillon made it through only 4.1 frames, opening the door for Peralta to grab his first win as a Yankee. The right-hander picked up two victories with the Giants earlier in the campaign, so his record now stands at 3-1. Since joining the Yankees in late April, Peralta has posted a 2.84 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB across 6.1 innings.

The Rays recalled Richards from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The right-hander will move up to the big club for the second time this season after posting a 4.91 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over five appearances in his first stint with the Rays. After previously working as a swingman for the Rays in 2020, Richards appears to have transitioned into a full-time relief role. He worked no more than 1.1 innings in any of his five appearances with Durham prior to Wednesday's call-up.

The Rays placed Patino on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right middle finger laceration, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Patino likely picked up the injury during his start in the Rays' 13-6 win Tuesday, when he was pulled after being roughed up for four earned runs on six hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. The Rays had been including Patino in a pseudo six-man rotation of late, so the team could just get by with the traditional five starters while the right-hander is on the mend.

McHugh fired two perfect innings during which he recorded three strikeouts in a win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

McHugh has carved out quite the effective niche as manager Kevin Cash's ace in the hole for multi-inning work, as the veteran right-hander now has a trio of scoreless multi-inning efforts on his ledger in May. The current month is in stark contrast to McHugh's four-appearance April, when he surrendered eight runs (six earned) on 12 hits and a walk over 5.1 innings before suffering a back injury that put him on the shelf.

Double-A Portland placed Ward on its 7-day injured list Tuesday with a right forearm strain, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The 24-year-old right-hander is viewed as one of the top pitching prospects in the organization. He split time between the Low-A and High-A level in his last minor-league season in 2019, posting a 2.14 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 157:57 K:BB in 126.1 innings. The Red Sox won't have a clear idea on the extent of Ward's injury until after he undergoes further testing, but even if his UCL is confirmed to be intact and he's revealed to have only suffered a minor strain, he'll still likely miss more than the minimum seven days.
