Curtiss allowed a solo home run, two singles and a walk in 1.1 innings while serving as the opener in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Yankees. He struck out one and did not factor in the decision.

Curtiss's lone run allowed came on a Luke Voit homer in the first. The right-hander retired the first batter he faced in the second, but was pulled after allowing a walk and single in consecutive at-bats. Curtiss, who has an ERA of 3.52, remains an option to open games going forward.

Thornton allowed six earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out one across 0.2 innings Thursday in the second game of the Blue Jays' doubleheader against the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.

Thornton couldn't make it out of the first inning, as he allowed the first six batters he faced to reach base. It appeared that he settled in when he recorded two consecutive outs, but was finally yanked when he surrendered an RBI double to the eighth batter of the inning. This was Thornton's first outing since being activated from the injured list with an elbow injury ,and he'll try to bounce back in his next start, currently projected to come Wednesday against Boston.

Ottavino (2-2) took the loss and a blown save in Thursday's game against Tampa Bay, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning.

Ottavino entered the game to start the sixth inning with the Yankees leading 4-3. After allowing a double and a walk to the first two batters he faced, the right-hander retired the next two. He gave up a game-tying single to Manuel Margot two batters later before being replaced by Luis Avilan. The reliever was charged with two more runs when Avilan gave up a three-run homer to Mike Zunino. As of now, Thursday can be viewed as just a slip up, as Ottavino had allowed just one run in his first 8.1 innings to start the season.

Pressly allowed one earned run on one hit but earned the save Thursday against the Rockies.

Pressly entered the game with a three-run cushion. He allowed a leadoff triple, but retired the next three batters he faced to lock down his third save of the season. After a rocky start to the campaign, Pressly has allowed only two earned runs across his last seven innings while striking out eight. He should serve as the Astros' primary closer until Roberto Osuna (elbow) is able to return.

Barria was optioned to the Angels' alternate training site Thursday.

The Angels needed to open up a spot on the 28-man roster for Jose Suarez prior to Thursday's start, and Barria found himself as the odd man out. Barria made one appearance in his time with the big club, tossing 4.1 innings of two-run ball in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.

Swanson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm strain, retroactive to Aug. 17.

Swanson has labored through his past two appearances as he's given up six runs on four hits while hitting two batters and striking out two over one inning. His injury could help provide an explanation behind his back-to-back losing efforts. The exact severity of the issue isn't known, and it's unclear how much time he'll miss as a result of the injury.

Romano (2-1) picked up the win in relief in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies, striking out the side in a scoreless seventh inning.

Romano entered the seven-inning contest with the game tied 2-2 in the final inning. The righty impressed once again, striking out each of the three Phillies he faced on swinging strikes. Romano now has 18 strikeouts on the campaign and boasts a very tidy 0.75 ERA and 0.67 WHIP.

Littell was recalled from the Twins' alternate training site Thursday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Littell was optioned Wednesday to make room for Rich Hill on the Twins' pitching staff, but he'll return to the 28-man roster after Lewis Thorpe was optioned to the alternate training site in a corresponding move. Littell had a rough season debut, but he's been effective since then, allowing just one run on four hits and three walks over four innings.

Thornton (elbow) was activated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Thornton will start Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies, so the transaction was anticipated. He was placed on the IL earlier in August while dealing with right elbow inflammation but progressed smoothly through his recovery. The right-hander should claim a role in the starting rotation with Nate Pearson (elbow) on the 10-day injured list.

The Astros recalled Perez from their alternate training site Thursday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

He'll join the active roster as a replacement for third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Perez missed a large chunk of summer camp while recovering from an unspecified issue, but he was cleared to report to the Astros' alternate site in late July and should be in good condition as he makes the jump to the big leagues. Perez will likely serve as a multi-inning option out of the Houston bullpen, given his recent starting experience in the high levels of the minors.
