Adams had his contract selected from Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

As expected, Adams will join the big-league bullpen ahead of Thursday's series opener in Seattle. Addison Reed (thumb) was designated for assignment to free up a spot on the 40-man for the veteran right-hander, who compiled a 4.50 ERA and 14.0 K/9 in 18 innings at Triple-A before earning the promotion.

Manager Chris Woodward said Leclerc would be used as an opener for the Rangers in Friday's game against the Cardinals, Robert Falkoff of MLB.com reports.

With only Mike Minor and Lance Lynn having resembled passable starting options for the Rangers this season, Woodward has become open to experimenting with openers in front of the team's other rotation members. Leclerc, the team's former closer, will be the latest reliever to get a look at the beginning of a game in what will go down as his first official "start" at any level of affiliated ball since 2016. Over his 17 appearances this season, Leclerc has topped out at two innings and 36 pitches, which likely represents the upper bound of his workload Friday.

Manager Chris Woodward confirmed Thursday that Miller has been moved to the bullpen, Robert Falkoff of MLB.com reports.

Woodward suggested that Miller's transition to relief work won't necessarily be a permanent one, but the right-hander provided little evidence in his eight starts that he's still an MLB-caliber rotation option. He failed to work longer than 5.1 innings in any of those outings and posted a 9.51 ERA and 2.11 WHIP, both of which ranked last among all pitchers who have received at least five starts. Woodward envisions using Miller as a one- or two-inning reliever for the time being, with most of the 28-year-old's initial usage out of the bullpen expected to come in lower-leverage spots.

The Orioles optioned Yacabonis to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Yacabonis will lose his spot on the active roster and in the Baltimore bullpen after Richard Bleier (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. During his abbreviated stay with the big club, Yacabonis made one appearance, giving up a run on three hits while striking out three over two innings.

Trivino has been charged with two blown saves and allowed four earned runs over 3.2 innings in his last three appearances.

The normally dominant right-hander had yielded just two earned runs across his first 15 trips to the mound heading into an appearance against the Indians last Friday. Trivino surrendered an earned run on two hits and a walk in that outing, and three days later, he was touched up by the Mariners for three more on two hits and two walks over an inning. Trivino does have eight holds on the season and offers fantasy owners plenty in the way of strikeouts (9.2 K/9), but the pair of recent stumbles has bumped his ERA up from 1.13 to 2.75.

Alvarado, who notched his fifth hold in a win over the Marlins on Wednesday with 1.1 scoreless innings in which he allowed no hits or walks and recorded a strikeout, owns four saves, a 1.04 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP over 17.1 innings.

The hard-throwing 23-year-old is currently working on a six-appearance scoreless streak. Alvarado has allowed only two earned runs all season, which came in back-to-back appearances April 20 and April 21 against the Red Sox. Alvarado also boasts a 26:8 K:BB, leading to an eye-popping 13.5 K/9. The only drawback for fantasy owners has been manager Kevin Cash's approach to the closer role, one that's seen Alvarado split ninth-inning duties and save opportunities primarily with Diego Castillo (five saves).

Kolarek, who fired two-thirds of a scoreless inning in which he recorded a strikeout during a win over the Marlins on Wednesday, owns a 2-1 record, eight holds, a 3.21 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP across 14 innings.

The 30-year-old southpaw has been a highly reliable component of the bullpen for the most part, and he's generated back-to-back scoreless efforts after a pair of hiccups earlier in May. Kolarek has especially done an effective job keeping the ball down, as evidenced by his 62.8 percent groundball rate. He also went 16 appearances to open the season without allowing a home run before yielding his first two round trippers of the season to the Diamondbacks on May 7.

Minnesota is likely to call up Adams from Triple-A Rochester before Thursday's game against Seattle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The Twins will need to add him to the 40-man roster to make the move. Adams has a 4.50 ERA at Triple-A but a 3.32 FIP and 14.0 K/9 in 18 innings. The 32-year old journeyman is likely to work in long relief and may not be in the majors for too long as the Twins continue to shuffle their bullpen.

Barnes allowed one hit and three inherited runners to score over two-thirds of an inning in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning victory over the Rockies.

Barnes came on as a fireman in the seventh inning after Eduardo Rodriguez loaded the bases with none out and was unable to douse the threat. He expended 26 pitches over two strong innings the previous night but did not have the same curveball Wednesday. Barnes was tagged with a third blown save, which can happen when a manager uses a closer in a high-leverage spot during the middle of an inning.

Hearn (elbow) will be re-examined Thursday after being shut down for three weeks, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Hearn made a disappointing debut for Texas on April 26, departing after allowing five runs on three hits and four walks in a third of an inning. If the inflammation in his elbow has subsided, the left-hander could start a throwing program next week.
