Michael Fulmer RP | NYY
Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Officially placed on IL
The Tigers placed Fulmer (elbow) on the Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press Saturday.
The transaction creates an opening on the 40-man roster for Gordon Beckham, who has emerged as the victor in the spring job battle for the top utility infield job with the Tigers. Per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, Fulmer is slated to undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday and will be sidelined for the entire 2019 season and quite likely, a sizable portion of the 2020 campaign.

Connor Sadzeck RP | MIN
Rangers' Connor Sadzeck: On roster bubble
Sadzeck allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one over two innings Friday against the Cubs.
Sadzeck is fighting for a one of the final spots in the bullpen and hasn't earned it based on his spring performance. Friday's results pushed his ERA to 8.59, and he's walked eight over 7.1 innings. The right-hander is out of options, which could work in his favor, but the Rangers need to decide if he's a power arm with potential or a power arm that will never materialize as they want.

Zack Burdi RP | LAD
White Sox's Zack Burdi: Looking at extended spring training
Burdi suffered an aggravation of his latissimus early in spring training that delayed his work and will require him to participate in extended spring training, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
The White Sox were already being careful with Burdi, a 2016 first-round draft pick who returned from Tommy John elbow surgery late in the 2018 season. "Worst comes to worst, maybe I stay here for a couple of extended [spring camp] games, because I probably won't get as many looks as these guys," Burdi said. "A week or two into the season, it's missing baseball, which sucks. But at the end of the day, I missed an entire year. It's not worth risking an entire other one." Burdi had reached Triple-A before the elbow injury and could work his way to the majors later this season.

Ryan Borucki RP | SF
Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Dealing with elbow discomfort
Borucki removed himself from a minor-league game Wednesday after experiencing elbow discomfort, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The issue isn't considered to be anything major at this point. That said, elbow problems of any kind are always a worry for a pitcher, so Borucki's status will be worth keeping an eye on, especially with Opening Day less than a week away. The southpaw should be considered day-to-day.

Danny Coulombe RP | BOS
Yankees' Daniel Coulombe: Sent to minors
Coulombe was reassigned to minor-league camp Friday.
Coulombe posted a solid 2.79 ERA and 10:3 K:BB through 9.2 innings this spring, but there simply isn't room for him in the Yankees' stacked bullpen. The southpaw, who owns a career 4.27 ERA across parts of five big-league seasons (143.1 innings), should provide bullpen depth for New York.
-
Hoby Milner RP | SEA
Rays' Hoby Milner: Sent to minors
Milner was reassigned to minor-league camp Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Milner enjoyed a solid spring training with a 3.48 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 12:0 K:BB across 10.1 innings, but wasn't able to earn a spot on the 25-man roster. The 28-year-old will begin the season at Triple-A Durham but may make his way to the majors when the Rays need to shuffle their bullpen arms.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
White Sox's Alex Colome: Confirmed as closer
Colome was confirmed as the White Sox's closer Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Colome was battling Kelvin Herrera for the role. Herrera's 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts in 6.2 innings are each better than Colome's 4.50 ERA and three strikeouts in three frames this spring, but Colome was announced as the winner by manager Rick Renteria. The confirmed role should boost Colome's fantasy value, though he's far from a top-tier closer, as his career 22.2 percent strikeout rate is well below the numbers produced by most ninth-inning options.
-
Shelby Miller RP | CHC
Rangers' Shelby Miller: Makes rotation
Miller will be the fifth starter in the Rangers' rotation to start the season, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Miller ran his pitch count to 77 on the back fields in a minor-league game Thursday when he allowed a run on five hits and did not walk a batter. That was an encouraging sign from the 28-year-old right-hander, who has allowed 18 baserunners in 8.2 Cactus League innings. The Rangers would still like to see one good start against major-league competition before Miller makes his first regular-season start, expected to be April 3 against Houston.
-
Jesse Chavez RP | ATL
Rangers' Jesse Chavez: Makes roster
Chavez has nailed down a spot in the Rangers' bullpen, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Chavez was roughed up in the Cactus League, giving up eight runs and 12 hits over eight innings, but his spot in the bullpen was never in doubt. The veteran right-hander excelled in 2018, which he credited to lowering his arm angle. He'll do a little bit of everything in the bullpen; from eating innings in mop-up duty when needed to working in high-leverage situations.

Brian Flynn RP | KC
Royals' Brian Flynn: Dealing with elbow issue
Flynn has been battling an elbow issue, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
The severity of the injury is not yet clear. Given the timing of the injury, Flynn may be forced to open the season on the injured list.
