Zack Burdi RP | LAD
White Sox's Zack Burdi: Throwing off mound
Burdi (elbow) is throwing regularly off a mound, James Fegan of The Athletic Chicago reports.
Burdi is slowly working his way back from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in July of 2017. He's hoping to enter spring training without any restrictions, though he could conceivably return to action in the fall if all goes well.

Jonathan Hernandez RP | LAD
Rangers' Jonathan Hernandez: Promoted to Double-A
Hernandez was promoted to Double-A Frisco on Monday.
The 21-year-old posted very impressive numbers in 10 starts for High-A Down East this season, backing up a 2.20 ERA with a 7.8 percent walk rate and a very impressive 35.2 percent strikeout rate. Scouts see him as a future back-end starter due to fringy command, but if he keeps up that level of performance, his stock will likely improve.

Jaime Barria RP | CLE
Angels' Jaime Barria: Likely to start Tuesday in Seattle
The Angels are expected to recall Barria from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
With an off day in the Angels' schedule last week allowing the team to get by with five starters on a temporary basis, Barria was demoted to Triple-A to give the team more roster flexibility. Assuming Barria is chosen to fill the opening the in the rotation Tuesday, he could be in store for an extended stay with the big club after Shohei Ohtani was moved to the disabled list Friday due to a sprained UCL in his throwing arm, which is expected to sideline the two-way rookie for at least a month. With a 2.48 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through his first seven starts in the majors, Barria certainly seems to have earned his spot thus far.

Jonathan Loaisiga RP | ARI
Yankees' Jonathan Loaisiga: Could join big-league rotation Friday
Loaisiga appears to be in contention to fill the vacancy in the Yankees rotation Friday against the Rays, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
With only 14 appearances in affiliated ball over the previous two seasons, the right-hander from Nicaragua received limited attention in prospect circles entering 2018. The Yankees thought enough of Loaisiga to protect him from the Rule 5 draft over the winter, and the 23-year-old has only further validated that decision with the dominance he has displayed across two levels. After opening the season with a 1.35 ERA and 26:1 K:BB in 20 innings at High-A Tampa, Loaisiga earned a promotion to Double-A Trenton and has continued to impress. Though issues with the long ball have kept his ERA at 4.32 over 25 frames, he has continued to control the strike zone effectively (32:3 K:BB). Given Loaisiga's lack of experience at the upper levels of the minors, it would be rather bold of the Yankees to throw him into the fire at the major-league level, but the fact that he already has a spot on the 40-man roster may give him an edge over his primary competition for the rotation opening, 30-year-old David Hale.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Athletics' Blake Treinen: Notches third win Sunday
Treinen (3-1) fired 1.2 scoreless innings in a win over the Royals on Sunday, allowing one hit.
Treinen got the call in a bit of a different situation than usual, as the game was knotted at 2-2 in the eighth when manager Bob Melvin summoned him. The closer retired Salvador Perez and Hunter Dozier with inherited runner Whit Merrifield on second to close out the frame. He then earned his third win of the season by successfully working around an Alex Gordon double in the ninth, following a Matt Chapman go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth that gave the Athletics a 3-2 lead. Treinen has been an unquestioned success in the late innings this season, as evidenced by a sparkling 0.87 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB across 31.0 frames.

Sean Manaea SP | NYM
Athletics' Sean Manaea: Goes 7.1 innings against Royals
Manaea didn't factor into the decision against the Royals on Sunday, despite giving up just two earned runs on six hits over 7.1 strong innings, striking out six and walking none as Oakland eventually prevailed 3-2.
Manaea had cooled down recently after a blistering start to the season, but he put in his best outing since April in this contest and was unlucky not to receive enough run support to put him in a line for a victory that ultimately went to Blake Treinen. Manaea's numbers on the season still look solid despite his recent struggles, as he's got a 3.49 ERA and an impressive 0.99 WHIP through 80.1 innings. However, he's now given up at least one home run in eight consecutive starts, so he'll need to curb the long balls if he wants to get his ERA back to where it was during his dominant start to the year.

Ken Giles RP | ATL
Astros' Ken Giles: Throws in middle relief Sunday
Giles walked one and struck out two over 1.2 scoreless innings in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Rangers.
Giles came on with one out in the sixth inning and, after ceding a walk to the first batter, set down five consecutive Rangers. It was the earliest that Giles has entered a game this season. He appears to have temporarily lost the closer job to Hector Rondon, who saved Sunday's game -- his third in the last five games.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Collects second win
Lopez (2-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out six across 6.1 innings as he picked up the win Sunday against Boston.
Lopez allowed a run in the second inning off a single by Rafael Devers and an unearned run on an error by his second baseman in the seventh inning, but he managed to exit with a 3-2 lead against a tough Red Sox lineup. He's been rock-solid in his last two starts, allowing just one earned run across 13.1 innings to go with 10 strikeouts. Lopez sports a 3.26 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP with a 54:34 K:BB over 77.1 innings this season.
-
Matt Moore RP | BOS
Rangers' Matt Moore: Lasts only three innings
Moore allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits and one walk while failing to register a strikeout across three innings Sunday against the Astros. He did not factor into the decision.
Moore couldn't survive his first pitch without allowing an earned run, as George Springer drove a home run to center field on Moore's opening offering of the game. Things didn't improve much from there for him, as he allowed three more extra-base hits before being chased after three innings. This start marked the fourth time in 12 starts that Moore has failed to complete at least four innings of work, and he now has a horrendous 7.88 ERA to go along with a 2.04 WHIP through 56 frames this season.

Tim Mayza RP | PHI
Blue Jays' Tim Mayza: Headed back to minors
The Blue Jays optioned Mayza to Triple-A Buffalo following Sunday's 13-3 win over the Orioles, John Lott of The Athletic Toronto reports.
His demotion clears a spot on the active roster for Preston Guilmet, whom the Blue Jays scooped up off the waiver wire a day earlier. Mayza covered the final two innings of Sunday's rout, giving up no runs and only one hit to lower his season ERA to 2.70.
