Giovanny Gallegos RP | LAD
Yankees' Giovanny Gallegos: Called up Saturday
Gallegos was recalled by the Yankees on Saturday.
Gallegos struggled over nine appearances in a promotion earlier this season, racking up a 7.15 ERA and a .313 BAA over just 11.1 innings in relief. He'll provide some bullpen depth while taking the active roster spot of Masahiro Tanaka, who was placed on the DL in a corresponding move due to right shoulder inflammation. Gallegos has fared much better with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, boasting a 1.69 ERA and four saves, but will likely be limited to low-leverage situations out of the bullpen.

Robby Scott RP | BOS
Red Sox's Robby Scott: Brought up by Red Sox
Scott was recalled by the Red Sox on Saturday.
The southpaw reliever returns to the big leagues for the third time this season, as he takes the roster spot of DL-bound Dustin Pedroia (knee). Scott, mainly working out of a limited role against left-handed hitters, has racked up a 3.38 ERA and 1.05 WHIP this season and likely won't see many high-leverage situations in a crowded Boston bullpen.

Chris Rowley RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Chris Rowley: Officially recalled Saturday
Rowley had his contract selected and was recalled ahead of his upcoming start Saturday.
Rowley takes over the rotation spot of the injured Aaron Sanchez (finger) and will make his major-league debut when he starts against the Pirates on Saturday afternoon. The right-hander owns a solid 2.82 ERA over 10 games with Triple-A Buffalo this season (six starts) in addition to a 1.21 WHIP and a 41:15 K:BB. Nonetheless, Rowley may need to impress in the spot start if he wants to earn a more permanent promotion with the club.

Christopher Smith RP | WAS
Blue Jays' Chris Smith: Cast off 40-man roster
Smith was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Smith was expected to be replaced on the active roster by catcher Mike Ohlman following Russell Martin's oblique injury and that's exactly what occurred. The right-hander was recalled from the minors Thursday to provide bullpen depth, but more pressing matters appear to have interfered with the promotion. He'll likely return to serving as organizational depth with Triple-A Buffalo, where he owns a 4.26 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 26.1 innings this year.

Carson Smith RP | BOS
Red Sox's Carson Smith: Second rehab outing delayed
Smith (elbow) was expected to pitch for Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday but was held out due to back tightness, Brendan McGair of the Pawtucket Times reports.
The new plan has Smith expected to toss an inning during Saturday's game. From what the pitcher and PawSox manager Kevin Boles are saying, it sounds like the back tightness is not a big issue and may be some normal soreness. Smith will remain with the PawSox for the foreseeable future with no set timetable for a possible activation.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Delivers quality start in ChiSox debut
Lopez struck out six and allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings Friday but did not factor in the decision in Friday's 6-3 win over the Royals.
It was a strong White Sox debut for the fireballing righty, as he dominated every Kansas City hitter except Mike Moustakas, who slugged two solo homers off him. Lopez threw an impressive 68 of 102 pitches for strikes and should remain in the rotation for the rest of the year, but he'll face a tough test in his next start Thursday on the road against the Rangers.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Athletics' Blake Treinen: Nabs third save with clean inning
Treinen struck out a batter in a clean inning for his third save Friday against Baltimore.
This marks five consecutive scoreless innings and four consecutive hitless innings for Treinen, who is finally starting to find his legs after a shaky start to his Oakland career. Look for the A's to throw Treinen into the fire throughout the rest of the season so they can see if he can become the closer they hope he can be.

Christopher Smith RP | WAS
Blue Jays' Chris Smith: Packing for imminent return to minors
Smith is expected to be optioned Saturday to Triple-A Buffalo in order to make room for a backup catcher following Russell Martin's oblique injury Friday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
With a pair of backup catchers already on the DL, Martin's injury leaves the club with no choice but to pick up a backstop for Saturday's affair with the Pirates. Add in Chris Rowley, Saturday's starter, needing a spot on the 40-man roster and the Jays have themselves bending over backwards trying to make it all work. In the end, Smith will be the odd man out just two days after being recalled.

Aroldis Chapman RP | BOS
Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Earns 15th save despite three walks Friday
Chapman allowed one run on three walks over one inning to earn his 15th save Friday against the Red Sox.
Chapman had terrible control issues, but since he was protecting a two-run lead, he was able to convert the save despite allowing a run. This was the first run he's allowed since July 20, and he's brought his ERA down to 3.06. Despite three blown saves and a 1.30 ERA, as long as he keeps getting the ball in the ninth inning, he'll continue to be a strong fantasy option.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Unravels in ninth Thursday
Diaz (2-5) gave up three earned runs on a hit and three walks in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Angels.
Asked to preserve a 3-3 tie coming into the ninth, Diaz got matters off on the wrong foot by issuing consecutive walks and eventually surrendering a bases-clearing double to Mike Trout. The 23-year-old had put together six straight scoreless appearances prior to Thursday and had already racked up five saves in his first five outings of August. Despite the stumble, his 69 strikeouts over 50.1 innings and 25-for-29 record in save opportunities continue to render him an elite closer option in any fantasy format.
