Kirby Yates RP | PIT
Angels' Kirby Yates: Claimed by Angels
Yates was claimed off waivers by the Angels on Wednesday.
The Yankees designated Yates for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, but he was seen as a useful addition by the Angels. He posted a 3.97 FIP and 50:10 K:BB in 41.1 innings out of the big league bullpen last year, but he was awfully hittable, giving up a .340 BABIP, which led to a 5.23 ERA.

Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Returns to action Sunday
Pomeranz (forearm) threw 1.1 scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Pomeranz had not pitched since Sept. 23 due to a sore forearm, but he was able to get back on the mound for Sunday's regular season finale. He is not expected to be part of the Red Sox's postseason rotation, but Sunday's outing means he should be able to work in a relief role if the team chooses.

Sean Manaea SP | NYM
Athletics' Sean Manaea: Earns 7th win Sunday with quality start
Manaea improved to 7-9 Sunday versus Seattle, allowing just two runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts across six strong innings.
Manaea needed just 88 pitches through six frames, 63 of which went for strikes, and his only mistake came on a two-run double with men on base in the fifth inning. The rookie closed the season on an absolute tear, as he allowed just four runs in his final 34.1 innings to lower his ERA to 3.86. He was a top prospect before being dealt to the Athletics and looks poised to build on the promise he showed during his minor league career as he makes the jump to his second big league season.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
Rays' Alex Colome: Blows save Sunday in final game of season
Colome allowed a run on three hits while striking out two to blow the save in Sunday's win over the Rangers. He received the win after the Rays were able to plate a pair of runs in the 10th inning.
After mowing down the side Saturday, Colome got himself into a jam by allowing the first two men to reach before Hanser Alberto tied the game with an RBI single. Despite finishing the season on a somewhat sour note, Colome was a revelation, making his first All-Star team while accumulating 37 saves to go along with a 1.91 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. After playing second fiddle on the depth chart to Brad Boxberger to begin this season, he should enter 2017 as the Rays' undisputed closer.

Michael Fulmer RP | NYY
Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Will start Monday if game is necesarry
Fulmer will start if the Tigers play the Indians on Monday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Detroit's game against the Indians had been postponed Thursday due to adverse weather conditions. However, it's yet to be determined whether or not the Tigers will play Monday, as they'll do so only if they have a chance to secure one of the American League wild-card spots. In Fulmer's last start, which came against Cleveland, he allowed three runs off six hits over just 3.1 innings.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
Rays' Alex Colome: Tallies 37th save in Saturday win
Colome notched his 37th save in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Rangers.
The closer needed only nine pitches to dispose of Hanser Alberto, Ryan Rua and Mitch Moreland after Nomar Mazara had reached on error by Corey Dickerson to open the ninth. Colome has now converted nine straight save opportunities, all scoreless appearances.

Craig Kimbrel RP | KC
Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Third straight shaky outing Saturday
Kimbrel allowed one run on a walk, a wild pitch and two sacrifices in one inning in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Toronto. Boston's closer has walked six of the last 13 batters faced and has been tagged with the loss in two of the last three games.
While Saturday's performance wasn't the kind of meltdown we saw Wednesday in New York, it's a reminder how dangerous a walk, particularly a leadoff walk, can be. Kimbrel has had a fleeting relationship with control all season, posting a 5.0 BB/9 rate while walking a career-high 13.6 percent of the batters faced, up from 9.2 percent last season. That problem is surfacing as the Red Sox prepare to embark on the postseason. With his velocity, Kimbrel doesn't need to be pinpoint with his pitches, but he needs to put the ball over the plate. Red Sox manager John Farrell said he's not considering moving Kimbrel out of the closer spot, but they need to fix this latest flare-up of control issues.

Hector Santiago RP | SEA
Twins' Hector Santiago: Wins final outing of season with scoreless quality start
Santiago (13-10) pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, giving up only three hits and three walks in Saturday's win over the White Sox.
Santiago was particularly effective against his former team, going 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA in four starts against the White Sox this season. Although he can't be blamed for a lack of wins playing for the Angels and Twins this year, he did set personal worsts in ERA (4.87) and K/9 (7.07). To provide more value next year, he'll need to return to at least posting a higher strikeout rate -- like he did his first two years in the league -- if he doesn't significantly improve in ERA, WHIP or wins.

Craig Kimbrel RP | KC
Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Notches 31st save Friday
Kimbrel walked two batters in a scoreless inning for his 31st save of the season in Friday night's 5-3 win over Toronto.
Including Kimbrel's meltdown Wednesday against the Yankees, Boston's closer has walked five batters in his last two appearances. His performance has been disconcerting, particularly after he and the team played so well in September to clinch a spot in the postseason.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Posts 18th save despite allowing run
Diaz gave up three hits and a run but eventually earned his 18th save by striking out the side in the ninth inning Thursday to beat the A's, 3-2.
Diaz has hit some rough waters lately, blowing two of his last four save opportunities. He's allowed eight hits and four runs in that span but has struck out eight with no walks. His K:BB this season is 85:15.
