  • Ryan Pressly RP | CHC

Twins' Ryan Pressly: Records two outs, gives up hit

Pressly gave up one hit in two-thirds of an inning in a loss to Cleveland on Friday.

Pressly has thrown two consecutive scoreless outings after giving up five earned runs in his previous two appearances. The 27-year-old strikes batters out, as evidenced by his 9.15 K/9, but he allows plenty of walks and hits, leading to a 5.03 ERA and 1.78 WHIP.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Credits relief role last season with valuable experience

Andriese credits the variety of roles he played last season with helping him in his 2016 debut, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 26-year-old found himself relatively relaxed and focused when having to face Mike Trout and Albert Pujols with two men on in the sixth last Sunday, and believes his varied experiences last season had a lot to do with his approach. "I think that they put me in a lot of different situations last year. Now if I get in that situation in the starting role, say it's the seventh inning and I have runners on first and second, I've been there before," Andriese said. "I feel like that helps. I've done a little bit of everything." Andriese logged 17 relief appearances for the Rays last season, along with eight starts. He'll face the A's in Tampa on Saturday night in another appearance as the fifth starter in the rotation.

  • Rays' Danny Farquhar: Recalled by Rays on Saturday

Farquhar was called up by the Rays on Saturday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.

The Rays placed Logan Forsythe on the DL on Saturday and subsequently called up Farquhar as a result. Farquhar posted a 3.38 ERA in 5.1 innings for the Rays before he was sent to Triple-A Durham on Apr. 22.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Will start at Triple-A again Monday

Kelly (shoulder) will make another rehab start Monday at Triple-A Pawtucket, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.

With Eduardo Rodriguez also nearing a return from the disabled list, the Red Sox will have to make a decision between Kelly, Rodriguez, and Steven Wright for the No. 5 starter spot. Wright has more than held his own thus far while filling in, but his performance in his next scheduled start Wednesday in Kansas City may go a long way toward guiding the team's decision.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Rays' Brad Boxberger: Will begin rehab assignment Sunday

Boxberger (abdomen) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday at High-A Port Charlotte, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.

The Rays did not immediately provide a fixed number of appearances for Boxberger, but he may only need a handful of innings before he's cleared to rejoin the Tampa Bay bullpen as the team's closer.

  • Bo Schultz RP | PIT

Blue Jays' Bo Schultz: Will pitch Saturday at Triple-A

Schultz (hip) has progressed to Triple-A Buffalo for the final stage of his rehab assignment where he's expected to pitch Saturday, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.

Once he's ready to return, Schultz figures to take a place in middle relief as a member of the Jays' bullpen.

  • Aaron Loup RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Aaron Loup: To start rehab assignment Saturday

Loup (elbow) will begin his rehab assignment at High-A Dunedin on Saturday, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.

Loup has been working his way back from a forearm strain he suffered early in spring training, but he has made significant strides of late and he's ready to head out on a rehab assignment. He'll begin at High-A on Saturday and will have up to 20 days on his assignment prior to being activated from the disabled list.

  • Albert Abreu RP | CIN

Astros' Albert Abreu: Strikeouts in abundance at Low-A

    Abreu, 20, has a 3.70 ERA and 38:12 K:BB through 24.1 innings for Low-A Quad Cities.

Abreu has massive strikeout potential but also control issues, leaving questions as to whether he can stick in the rotation. Opposing batters are hitting just .172 against him, though, and he does keep the ball down in the zone.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Rays' Brad Boxberger: Could begin rehab assignment shortly

Boxberger (abdomen) felt good after throwing Thursday, and his next step is likely a rehab assignment, Steve Carney of 620 WDAE Tampa reports.

Boxberger has made steady progress in his recovery from the abdominal injury he suffered during spring training, and he is on the verge of pitching in a game scenario again. It's not clear how many rehab outings Boxberger will need before he rejoins the Rays, but whenever he does, he is expected to step right into the closer's role currently held by Alex Colome.

  • Zach Neal RP | ATH

Athletics' Zach Neal: Optioned to Triple-A

Neal was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

The 27-year-old right-hander made his major league debut Wednesday, but he had the misfortune of going against a blistering Red Sox lineup. Neal was tagged for three earned runs over three innings Wednesday before being sent down in a corresponding move to promote Matt McBride.
